joe75
You already know that Install OS X Mavericks.app is compressed. The createinstallmedia command is uncompressing the app contents the same as it would be from running the .app, that is the function of the installer app. calling createinstallmedia, your instructions are --volume, --applicationpath and --nointeraction and can be whatever you tell it to be
Pike R. Alpha
Bugs, that command is creating the installer the same as if you ran the .app from desktop. It would be bootable from a mac or an efi boot like clover, osmosis or xpc. The command assumes the default locations, modify as needed. ...or RevoBoot. In fact, it was RevoBoot that introduced this feature
Macslap
I don't know about the rest of you but I have the GM1 (13A598) installed and when I try to download the GM2 (13A603) from software update...all I get is a drop down message that says,"OS X v10.9 is already installed on this computer. Use the Updates pageto install the 10.9 update or if you would like to download the full OS Xinstaller click Continue."When I click continue...nothing happens...it won't download. Anybody else experience this? I'm signed into my App Store account and the updates page says nothing about updating the OS.
Frank Nitty
I need to get another disk drive. I have 3 partitions taken up by SL, Lion, & Mt. Lion. Need more room for Mavericks Who's got a guide for X58 motherboards via usb stick?
BuXb
full instructions: Your 8 GB GPT USB drive should be called Untitled and formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). The installer should be called Install OS X Mavericks.app and should be in your Applications folder.Run this in terminal and wait about 20 minutes: sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction You should see something like this:Erasing Disk: 0%... 10%... 20%... 100%...Copying installer files to disk...Copy complete.Making disk bootable...Copying boot files...Copy complete.Done.You can then boot up from the USB by holding down the option key, then install the GM from the USB.This is probably going to be the same for the public release.Note that this will also install a recovery partition. theconnactic
Hi you all! I installed Mavericks over my Mountain Lion partition. All is working very nicely. GhostRaider
Still not working fo me. Again nothing happens after i click "download". Maybe somebody knows the way to fix it? Do you have that one issue where you can't download OS X Mavericks and you get some message saying "OS X v10.9 is already installed on this computer. Use the Updates page to install the 10.9 update or if you would like to download the full OS X installer click Continue." Thats easy to fix. 1. Open the App Store and leave it open. 2. Open terminal and type this: "sudo nano /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist" without the quotes. 3. Where you see 10.9 strings, change it to "10.8". This will fool OS X into thinking you have Mountain Lion. 4. Save it by pressing ctrl+o but do not close the terminal window. 5. Go back to the App Store window and click on the Mavericks download button. It should work now. 6. Go back to the terminal window and change the 10.8 strings back to 10.9 strings and press ctrl+o to save. Exit terminal. So yeah that's it.
