Rogiervd
If you have dual boot with windows: http://lifehacker.com/5742148/fix-windows-clock-issues-when-dual+booting-with-os-x. I don't know about the sound. Gringo Vermelho
Choppy sound can be fixed by patching DSDT as described here: http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=564 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/290470-choppy-sound-issues-clock-remaining-behind/#findComment-1931464 Share on other sites
Ion Darie
@Rogiervd: i am not using dual boot i have only OS X on this machine @Gringo Vermelho: i see that they are talking about slow sata speeds over there are you sure i can do the same modifications ? If it helps i can post my DSDT Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/290470-choppy-sound-issues-clock-remaining-behind/#findComment-1931628 Share on other sites
Gringo Vermelho
No reason to post your DSDT, just do the edits as described and see if it helps. Yes, you can do the same modifications, read the thread for more information. Maniac10
If you're booting with Clover then you may need to specify a different Bus frequency to get rid of those issues. EDIT: changed from CPU to Bus frequency, my mistake. k3nny
Hi Ion, you also should boot Clover EFI once, retrieve the BusSpeedkHz value (right after CPU frequency in the wiki) from the boot log, and set it in your config for use in UEFI mode. According to Slice the automatic detection is not accurate in UEFI mode and I recently had some sound issues because of it myself with 10.9. Gringo Vermelho
I don't know if you noticed that that the plist had the value in MHz, and you've now set it in KHz. 100 MHz and 100000 KHz is mathematically the exact same value, so, as long as Clover supports setting this value in KHz, nothing has changed! I believe that was with legacy boot, where as the UEFI boot may give him a slightly different frequency (more precise, according to the devs). Though I'm not sure he booted in legacy mode: Starting rEFIt rev 1794 on American Megatrends EFI Try booting with Chameleon if you can, take note of the bdmesg values and try them in Clover. k3nny
I tried to find a more accurate value in ioreg and here are my results for both modes:Command: ioreg -pIODeviceTree -fl | grep FSBFrequency UEFI automatic detection: "FSBFrequency" = <a518f60500000000> > 0x05F618A5 > 100,014,245 EFI automatic detection: "FSBFrequency" = <3aebf50500000000> > 0x05F5EB3A > 100,002,618 Will be using 100003 now and see how it runs. EDIT: Distortions with 100003, reverting back to 100000 that I already confirmed to run fine. 100002 might also work. k3nny
Then you should note the BusSpeed that works well for you and manually enter it in your config file. TheEnthusiast
From earlier posts, I see that it was suggested to use FSB as 100 MHz and then do the simple conversion to KHz. Looking at the instructions for Clover and from how bus speeds are usually listed by manufacturers, it may not be 100, but more 99.7 MHz, etc. This may seem small but is significant for clover. My advice would be to boot with EFI mode and generate the boot config or use Darwin Dumper to view the current booted config and see the Bus Speed value there. You could also try 99790 or 99775 as a manual string. Ideally, you should do the EFI boot.
