I know this particular graphics chip is a pain for everyone and it will definitely pose a threat to me as well. However, just the installation would make me very happy.

I used DSDT editor for Windows today and tried patching the DSDT, but even though the errors were fixed the warnings were still present.

I am attaching my DSDT here if anyone more experienced than me can give me a hand and apply the right patches and fixes would be amazing.

I hope someone can give me a hand, thank you kindly for your help!

Progress:

Installation takes about 1h 30m.

800x600 screen resolution.

Ethernet working (self-assigned IP address fix).

No QE/CI.

No sound.

No Airport.

Random crashes.

Hello everyone, this is my first post here.

I have a pretty old laptop that I'd like to get Snow Leopard running on. At first, I tried booting Nawcom's ModUSB with a retail DVD image, but I would always get kernel panic, no matter what I tried (I couldn't even get to the installer).

So I decided to try a distro, after trying many different things with ModUSB. I decided to use Hazard's 10.6.1-10.6.2 SSE2/SSE3 Intel/AMD distro. I was shocked when it booted to the installer with no issues! I formatted the HD as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), GPT. I then installed Snow Leopard. After a while, the installation succeeded, and I was happy. It went ahead with the restart necessary for the installation, and... kernel panic. The same kernel panic I got before when trying ModUSB. I was really disappointed.

      I've tried many things:

boot flags, such as: acpi=off arch=i386 GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=0 -f -s -x (and more, including verbose mode of course)
booting the installer again after successful installation, and then going to System/Library/Extensions on the HD in terminal, then: "chmod 755 *.*" as well as "kextcache -a i386 -m *.*"
reinstalling with no customize options selected apart from the boot loader (first installation, things such as the legacy kernel and specific kexts were specified)
and probably some other things that I can't remember right now

The thing is, if the installer can load with no issues, then Snow Leopard should work fine too, because they're theoretically (don't know for sure) using the same components (kernel, kexts, etc.). If I boot the installer in verbose mode, it gets right past the part where it kernel panics after installation just fine. This makes me think that something is configured differently after it is installed - something that the installer does not have - which is causing the kernel panic and preventing the boot.

Here are the specs of the laptop I'm trying to install this on:

      Intel Pentium M 753 ULV @ 1.2GHz
      1GB RAM
      855GME Graphics/Chipset

I know that this probably isn't the most compatible with SL, and I know the chipset/graphics are unsupported. However, I think I will be able to get it to work eventually, I just need some input on what might be going on. Looking at the kernel panic, it points toward AppleACPIPlatform.kext, but I don't know what's exactly wrong with it that is causing the kernel panic.

Please take a look at the verbose mode image I have attached. I appreciate any and all help I receive!

      Toshiba Satellite L755 1j2 Hackintosh

Download This file. It contains the zip file with everything you need for the installation.

      • A Toshiba Satellite L755 1j2– This is necessary to install macOS Sierra for this tutorial
      • A copy of Mac OS X – This can be in the form of an existing hackintosh, a virtual machine within Windows or Linux, or even a regular Mac. If you don’t have any of these things, then find someone who can help you out for a while. I prefer using a hackintosh with OSX El Capitan, Using an already working copy of Mac OS X either in a VM or a native hackintosh install is HIGHLY recommended.
      • A 8GB USB flash drive (or larger) – We’ll be copying the files to the drive appropriately, so make sure that you have a flash drive with enough storage space (8GB or larger).
A copy of macOS Sierra – The method used by this guide requires that you have a copy of the macOS Sierra Installation app, wich is available for free from the Mac App Store. This is for an clean install.
      1. My Specs
My installation was successfully done on an Toshiba Satellite L755-1J2
laptop computer with the following specs.
      • Intel Core i7 (2nd Gen) 2670QM / 2.2 GHz
      • 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM
      • Western Digital 250GB HDD
      • NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M - 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM
      • Mobile Intel HM65 Express
      • Atheros AR9285 wifi+bt 3.0

      2. Download OS X Sierra
      • Download macOS Sierra from the Mac App Store.
      • Once macOS Sierra is downloaded, close the install pop-up that appears using Command (⌘)+Q.
      • The application INSTALL macOS Sierra will appear in /Applications
      • Done!

      3. Prepare bootable USB Installer
Note on flash drives: You will need a USB flash drive to make this work. Your USB should be at least 8G.
Now, we need to prepare the USB Drive so that it will properly bootup on your PC. Make sure that the disk you choose to use doesn't contain anything that you want to keep, because the following tutorial will delete everything on the drive.

      • Open Finder - Applications and right-click on Install macOS Sierra and select Show Package Contents.
      • Open Contents - Resources.
      • Open a Terminal window thru Applications - Utilities - Terminal.
      • In the Terminal window type sudo followed by a space.
      • Drag the createinstallmedia file from the finder window opened in Step 4 to the Terminal Window.
      • Type --volume followed by a space.
      • Connect your USB drive and drag the USB drive into the Terminal Window.• Type --applicationpath in the Terminal followed by a space.
      • Open Finder - Applications and drag the Install macOS Sierra into the Terminal Window.
      • Press Return on the keyboard to submit the full command.
      • Type a 'Y' to continue when prompted to do so, and press Return on your keyboard
      • The install process will begin by erasing the contents of your USB disk and copying the installer files to the USB disk. The entire process is quite lengthy; it can takes around 15-30 minutes, so you will need to show some patience.
