speedingfreak
Well Hello There, Probably didn't use the search function the right way, but was unable to find a answer to my question. I just got myself a brand new laptop (ok, ok, ok it isn't mine, it's from the boss but who is looking). It's got a 80gig harddrive on which I installed XP pro. For this installa tion I used a 50gig partition. On the remaning 25 something gig I would like to install OSx, but somehow the osx install disk deleted my compleet XP install. How can I prevent this from happening in the future. I'm already reinstalling the laptop with on the first partition the XP install Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28641-install-osx1047-jas-on-second-partition/ Share on other sites
Rammjet
First, be sure you have set up two partitions using a Windows or Linux disk/partition utility. It helps if the the OSX partition is formatted in FAT32. If you try to set up a partition in Disk Utility, it will partition the whole drive at once and will erase what is there. When you go into Disk Utility, on the left is listed the hard drive and the partitions on it. The hard drive is listed first with the partitions listed below it. Click on the 25 GB partition on the left, then on the right select the Erase tab. Be sure it is set for MacOS Extended Journaled and then click on the Erase button.
