G5 - ATX front panel cable conversion question

Am I missing something ?

On my G5 cable, the ports for Firewire (3,4,5,7) are joined into a fat cable.

The ports for USB (6,11,12) are also joined into a fat cable.

I cut the G5 cable in my mobo exactly into half.

How is this even possible ?'

I stripped the USB cable to make sure. Definitely a join of cables 6,11,12

Is this what you're seeing??? This is a G5 cable cut in half:

As I mentioned on my response to you on my website, that is simply shielding that can be removed (just plastic and aluminum foil). If this is not what you are seeing, maybe you bought a front panel cable for a late 2005 G5??

Please change the title of your post to include that this is in reference to the front panel cable. ATX is far to generic and I immediately thought about the original TeslaConverter that came with the G5 and trying to adapt that to work with the standard ATX power plugs and power requirements.
