alaskantraveler
So I was fooling around and looked at /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist Careful with this one, because it can make your system completely unbootable unless you use either the install dvd or Windoze7 or such to fix it. Back it up first so it is easier to fix. Open it in Property List Editor and change the values for the last to items, the version number ones. You can change from 10.6.8 to 10.7.0 this way, and if you don't have a 10.7 kernel of some sort hanging around your disk's root you won't be able to boot up until you get it changed back to 10.6.8 if you reboot while the SystemVersion.plist is listed this way. Or .9. It will let that one pass. Have fun, and tell us if you were able to update from one to another. (I hit Software Update while in the changed setting and got two updates for 10.7.0!) theconnactic
Great finding, alaskantraveller! As i was reading this, i thought of a valuable practical utility for this mod: installing software that do OS version checks, from the App Store or elsewhere. Best regards!
