Iceman360
it stops on the blue screen right after the white OSx loading screen. i waited for over an hour and the screen just stays blue. (btw, i'm using JaS istallation DVD 10.4.6) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28525-hp-dv1000/#findComment-196559 Share on other sites
wondergod
this is a known issue with our chipset...connect a external monitor or you can use the paperclip hack mentioned in my sig below, and you should be able to boot. || \/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28525-hp-dv1000/#findComment-196573 Share on other sites

Scorpio123
Hi there, its good to see that others have the same PC as me! Anyway, i have the same problem as Iceman here, where it hangs at the blue screen after the Apple Logo... Now, im off to buy an external monitor, but i wanted to ask one thing. How do i switch to the external monitor when i connect it? I assume there's an "fn" button or something to display it on the monitor and back? And after the installation, do i have to continue to use the external, or can i use the laptop from then on? THanks for any help! The Paperclip method looks quite scary, lol.. You sure i can remove the paperclips and use a monitor if i try it without harming the port? wondergod
i take the paperclips out all the time when i'm at work to use my monitor there....never had a problem with them.... however its your laptop and i don't want to be responsible for breaking it... seeing as I don't know your paper clip skills :pirate2: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28525-hp-dv1000/#findComment-227694 Share on other sites
Scorpio123
lol, haha, dont worry bout it But do i always need to use the paperclip method, or only for the installation? Oh and seeing as you're running OS X on the same laptop as mine, how does it work? Is it fast enough? wondergod
i dunno i always keep them in...i've read that without them its sporatic...but i know i've tried without and it doesn't work for me so I leave them in... ya...however at the moment we are stuck with the older 10.4.4 kernel but ya I use it everyday and I use photoshop, itunes...no problems here... hopefully semthex adds sse2 support to his 8.8.1 kernel so we can get a 10.4.8 setup with the newest kernel... Scorpio123
Woah woah waoh, so does that mean i cant use the SSE2 10.4.8 update? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/28525-hp-dv1000/#findComment-230823 Share on other sites
Rammjet
Woah woah waoh, so does that mean i cant use the SSE2 10.4.8 update? Yes, you can use it. That update has the older 8.4.1 (10.4.4) kernel. There is no new 8.8.1 (10.4.8) kernel for SSE2 yet. Scorpio123
Problem fixed, and installation was successful! Everything seems to be working, except for one problem, i had to install OS X again, because the SSE2 JaS 10.4.8 update crashed at 29%, and wen i rebooted, OS X no longer worked until re-installing... Another problem is that my fan keeps running without stopping.. im not sure if this hurts or anything, but i was just wondering if its supposed to do that.. Thanks for any help!
