Well, I think this is probably a stupid question, but how does one install a kext without access to the desktop? On my AMD system, I'm getting a loop of "map_segment failed", which supposedly means i should reinstall FakeSMC. However, the system won't boot to the desktop. What to do? Thanks.

Booting with -s will give you single user mode where you can mount your drives & copy over kexts to /s/l/e.

Or you could plug the HDD into a different machine and use one of your already working setups to manually copy the kext there.

Don't forget you will need to boot with -f after installing it until you rebuild the kext cache.

Also I hope you already know you can't use the normal kernel with AMD processors
