Yes, and you can do that at boot time as well in the GUI

Thanks. So, I need re-using r5028++ AcpiPatcher.c then boot with this `PatchAPIC=NO` right?

Will test it ASAP.

@vector sigma seems normal using `PatchAPIC=NO` boot-arg (with r5028 commit);

But wait, previous issue was actualy random.. I mean, (reboot-shutdown problem) happenned for example after several hours macOS running, then idle (I never let my mach to sleep neither hibernate, btw). If I turn my mach on then turn off immediately, using r5028 (w/o PacthAPIC=NO) mach is HALTED properly.

Before r5028 I usually powered my laptop for max 6 days w/o powered off (nor sleep) but having no issue with mach HALT at all.

Thanks.

So, I have used AptioMemoryFix on my X299 system to manage booting and it has worked extremely well. The bad news is that AptioMemoryFix has been discontinued. No new versions or updates. It's done. Over and out....and of course, AptioMemoryFix is no longer included in Clover, I assume particularly for the reason that some knew about AptioMemoryFix's pending demise.

As recently as Clover 5033, I have tried all three of the OsxAptio* versions that are supposed to provide memory mgmt during boot, and they all failed. Badly failed. Couldn't even get a display in verbose mode from any of them.

If you use Opencore, there is supposed to be FwRuntimeServices.efi, which may be an offshoot of AptioMemoryFix, but it only works with Opencore, and not in Clover.

It appears as if the developers of Clover have decided that my only option is to use Opencore, or sell my X299 board......

This sucks....

Can you try this MemoryFix.efi.zip?

Sure, I'll try it, but is this a one time thing?  Or, do you intend to continue to provide this for the foreseeable future?

Because a package like Clover needs to have ongoing support for X99 and X299 boards, or everyone who has one of those boards will be forced to Opencore, sooner or later.....

I'll let you know if it works.

I'm not sure adding that to the boot-args will do the job...

Oh my bad, sorry for that. However, `PatchAPIC` is located on ACPI section from config.plist, but on Options menu (when booting Clover) is on CPU Tuning, that' s why I was bit confuse #LOL. I never set it to YES/NO with my 2nd Gen Asus laptop honestly, means this setting is missing from my config. Thanks.

Slice sorry for this question again,, defaul sample of config.plist always drop DMAR table. But i have tested to delete this, AppleVTD is shown in IOREG (DMAR ACPI TABLE) is loaded in macOS with no problem. I have tested it in Broadwell, Skylake, Kabylake and Coffelake.

Is this neccessery to drop DMAR table??? or can you point me to the link about old issue with DMAR table?

Hello again! :)

OpenCore developers are the same ones as the AptioMemoryFix developers. Aaand...just to give you a bit of context, the reason why AptioMemoryFix can't be compiled anymore under Clover is exactly because they shifted their focus to their own project (OpenCore), which doesn't seem to have much in common with Clover (I could be wrong here). They have different dependencies. And so, when you try to compile AptioMemoryFix under Clover, it will throw a bunch of OpenCore-related errors. That's why it's been decided not to include it with Clover package anymore and focus on the more "in-house" options, even if that requires some work to get those drivers up and running for everyone.

I'm sure you don't really care if it's called AptioMemoryFix or OsXAptioFixDrv, as long as it works! Which, right now, it doesn't.

So, if the new MemoryFix driver (posted above) works for you, I'm pretty sure it will be included with Clover, by default. Since the problem you're facing is probably not just on your computer. So, adding it by default to Clover, will probably benefit other users, as well.

Of course, this is only my opinion. I could be wrong. :) So I'm curious to hear from you again and hope your issue will be fixed with this driver.

This is very old issue, several years ago, macOS just crashed at start. The workarounds were dropDMAR or dart=0.

May be there was Apple's mistake fixed in new macOS.

You are welcome to use latest AptioMemoryFix R27. It's prebuild binary still available at the same place. It works fine with all hardware you used it before. You can implement this latest binary in Clover Pkg and use it as long as you want. Nobody takes it from you.

And yes. Unfortunately it will not get any updates in future. But it works now with all hardware without any problem.

Hi

I have a pretty full x299 system (thunderbolt, 2 nvme disk, a motherboard with independent bridge for pciex, different traditional disk and ssd)

with clover no problem at all

with OC different problem after first boot.

So i would like to understand better which problem do you have with your x299 rig

TY

Simple.  without Aptio it doesn't boot.  OsxAptio* it doesn't boot.  I thought I said that, but I'll repeat it here.

I have an Asus X299 Prime Deluxe I with thunderbolt, 1 nvme disk, 3 ssds, Radeon VII....

Yeah, me too.. I believe there's no issue with AcpiPatcher.c on my local mach since I was re-using clean version from SF (after r5037 committed). Mach powered on, loading Clover, select macOS vol on GUI, press Enter to boot > blackscreen (with super high cpu load). Just force shutdown then. Ah, no worry.. rolling back to prev. version via EFI Shell.

Hi

I have quoted you because your assertion is wrong in previous message

Support is there for x299 and x99 system in clover

I am using clover 5024

attached memory file I can use with some simple explanation:

1)AptioMemoryFix-64.efi

2)OsxAptioFix2Drv.efi

3)OsxAptioFix3Drv.efi

1) and 3) solution start without any boot arg for memory

2) start with can't allocate memory error

2) start fine with boot arg slide=128 (as we know from months and we discuss this subject here with apianti and also in a new Italian osx forum (macos86.it))

If I can permit it..I think problem could be a difficult bios configuration to adopt with one or other memory efi files

In particular way Asus motherboard had a CSM or above 4g parameter which have different behavior if you have o less a TB adapter installed in your system

You should investigate it

AptioMemoryFix-64.efi.zip

OsxAptioFix3Drv.efi.zip

OsxAptioFix2Drv.efi.zip

Sure, I could be wrong.  I just want a boot memory utility that works, and only AptioMemoryFix has worked for me (and still works for me).  I have tried OsxAptioFix2Drv and OsxAptioFix3Drv and they don't work.  I don't even get a display in verbose mode with these drivers.

I do not have CSM enabled, and I have a working system that works with AptioMemoryFix, but AptioMemoryFix has been discontinued, and it's replacement only works with Opencore, so I'm looking for a boot memory utility that works, and some thing that will work for the future.

Have you tried something I was saying you in previous message...

problem is not memory driver..but a bios/memory driver configuration..overall with Asus motherboard (x99/x299)

Well, it's only been a few minutes since I received your last message, so no I have not tried it, not yet.  Soon, but not yet.

As for a bios/memory driver problem with the architecture of the Asus X299 system boards, well, the reality is that for years now, with AptioMemoryFix, it boots and works.

And, I would add, that I have tried OsxAptio* numerous times, and with many releases, and this has going on for years, and those utilities still don't work.  As I said before, even in verbose mode, I rarely even get a display on my screen.  I suspect it's a slide issue, but I don't know that for sure.

As you have an Asus Sage motherboard, which I just purchased, tell me, what memory boot utility do you use?  I'm betting it's AptioMemoryFix.  If you use OsxAptio*, which one is it?

Can I propose a new subforum be created for the new OpenCorePkg OpenCore front end being created by vit9696 and others, it is a fantastic piece of work:
      https://github.com/acidanthera/OpenCorePkg
Even at version 0.1 it runs my Mojave 10.14.4 setup very nearly flawlessly. It consists of a 10KB bootstrap BootX64.efi and a 200KB OpenCore.efi OS loader. All configuration is done using a very well documented config.plist

      Dear all,

I have a external harddisk about 500GB, I installed the clover into it and the harddisk is GPT format, below is the 3 partitions details:
      FS01: EFI - disk0s1 - fat32
      FS02: install mac  image - disk0s2 -  hfs+
      FS03: install windows 10 - disk0s3 - fat32

I can use this external harddisk to install Mac without issue, I use below steps to install windows 10
      enter the FS03:
cd to efi/boot/ and excuete bootx64.efi
after pop up the windows install screen, i click next and it shows error 'A media driver your computer needs is missing...' and the installation can not go any further.
Firstly I use ultraiso to write the windows 10 image to a flash disk and no issue to start install window 10 so the image is working fine. Since I dont know how to write
a wiindow installation image into harddisk partition, I used winrar extra all the files into disk0s3, am I missing some steps or actually clover not support to install windows
      by partitions, apprecating any helps.

      - 2nd and I think the best method: Replace your M.2 Qualcomm Card with a compatible BCM94352Z card (you will have hand-off Bluetooth too), just install the kexts (enabled with BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext, BrcmPatchRAM2.kext, FakePCIID.kext, FakePCIID_Broadcom_WiFi.kext, they're all in my attached zip). You could buy this card from ebay, aliexpress, or amazon

      - None

      Getting ready for Installation:
      - Download the Catalina install zip (bootpack & postinstall): acer_aspire_V591G-55TU_cata.zip
      Installation:
      - Create an installer with any method you know (- Mac: createinstallmedia - Windows: Transmac, Vmware, Win32diskimager)
      - Copy my Clover folder to the USB's EFI folder
      - Boot with the Installer USB
      - If you stuck in boot, reboot and in the Clover bootloader select "config_debug.cfg" -> you'll have more informations about the freeze

Please open the README.rtf in my install zip for more informations about the USB Installer & Post installation!
On Catalina the System folder is read-only, so you need to remount in rw to modify System/Library.
If you have a single RAM and getting panic at boot, then you need to edit the "config.plist" with these (SMBIOS->after "Version 1.0"):
->Edit "Frequency" and "Size" to match your RAM values
      <key>Version</key> <string>1.0</string> <key>Memory</key> <dict> <key>Channels</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>SlotCount</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>Modules</key> <array> <dict> <key>Slot</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>Size</key> <integer>8192</integer> <key>Frequency</key> <integer>2133</integer> <key>Type</key> <string>DDR4</string> </dict> </array> </dict> </dict>
      PowerManagement  fix:
Set HWPEnable=YES in Clover (already set), CPUFloor to "700", Frequency to "2300" and "3200"(Normal and Turbo, if you have i7-6700HQ version then it should be "2600", "3500") and "FrequencyVectors" from "0x0d000000" to "0x07000000" in "S/L/E/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/X86PlatformPlugin.kext/Contents/Resources/Mac-A5C67F76ED83108C.plist", MSR _xcpm_idle Patch to KernelToPatch in Clover (If you have High Sierra, change "MatchOS" to 10.13):

<key>KernelToPatch</key> <array> <dict> <key>Comment</key> <string>MSR 0xE2 _xcpm_idle instant reboot(c) Pike R. Fn Brightness keys not working with this, tried several things without success. With VoodoPS2Controller it's working, but you'll have no gestures (neither scrolling).

Before updating to a new version of Catalina please update kexts (and clover if necessary) to newer versions to avoid kernel panics.
Generate a serial number with Clover Configurator.app (open up your config.plist with CC then -> SMBIOS -> Serial Number -> Generate New)

      Catalina & Windows 10 Dual-Boot:
Dual-boot clean install (on one drive), UEFI Only:

Boot into your Mac installer, Create 2 partitions in GUID table (1 for Win (I used FAT32 but I think it doesn't matter what you choose), 1 for Mac),   Install Mac, boot with your USB, mount your EFI partition (use terminal or an EFI mounter app), create an EFI folder (if there is no folder), copy the CLOVER folder I attached to the EFI folder, restart,  Boot into your Win installer, Format the partition you created for Win, install.   Now, it's automatically booting into Windows. To use Clover open cmd in administrator, type:  bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\CLOVER\CLOVERX64.efi       5.  You're done! It will booting into Clover when you start the system, and you can select Win or Mac (or another OS if installed on a 3rd partition).

Dual-boot with Windows installed first (on one drive), UEFI Only:
If you already have Windows and you don't want to lose all your data there is a hope:
I created a video from this restore method: [Hackintosh] Dual-Boot High Sierra & Windows - when Windows already installed - no data waste - UEFI
You need bootable Mac Installer and a full system restore image (link is in my video's description).
(You may see errors if your EFI partition is not 200 MB)
Boot into your Windows, resize your partition or create one for Mac.  Boot into your Mac installer and in Disk Utility format the partition you created.  Restore from image: select your full system restore image.  When it's finished restoring you just need to restart, then boot to the system with your usb.  When you successfully booted to Mac desktop, mount your EFI partition (use terminal or an EFI mounter app), open EFI, you will see there is a Microsoft folder already (don't touch that!). Copy my CLOVER folder to the EFI folder then Restart.  Now, it's automatically booting into Windows. To use Clover open cmd in administrator, type:  bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\CLOVER\CLOVERX64.efi       7.  You're done! You can select your old Windows and your new macOS!
(Only tried with Windows 8/8.1/10. I don't know Windows 7,etc.)

IF YOU GETTING ERRORS DURING MAC RESTORE:
      - Make sure you have partitions in GPT
      - Windows using 100 MB EFI and will annoy the Mac restore. Don't worry, just ignore the errors.

IF YOU GETTING ERRORS DURING WINDOWS INSTALLATION (could not be formatted, etc):
      - Make sure you have GPT partitions, and GPT (UEFI) installer, also disconnect all external storage drives (except the installer USB)

IF YOU USED RESTORE METHOD THEN CAN'T MOUNT YOUR EFI PARTITION (No EFI partition found):
      - It's because your EFI is not 200 MB or not an "Apple" original EFI,  but do not worry, try another EFI mounter, or mount from terminal (I used EFI mounter v3: Getting errors, but you can mount and use without problem)
      - You also could "mount" the EFI from Windows:
1st method: open cmd in administrator mode and type:
diskpart list vol (Now select the "System" volume,(FAT 32) For example I select 4) sel vol 4 list part (Select System type partition, for example 2) sel part 2 assign letter=b (This will "mount" your EFI partition) Open Explorer++ or TotalCommander in administrator mode to manage EFI remove letter=b (This will "unmount" your EFI) 2nd method: open cmd in administrator mode and type:
mountvol b: /s (This will mount your EFI) Open Explorer++ or TotalCommander in administrator mode to manage EFI mountvol b: /d (This will unmount your EFI) Thanks to all OSXLatitude members for helping me out! (Jake Lo, Hervé, Bronxteck, black.dragon74)!
