Hi @Slice

I just tested Goldfish64's latest AudioPkg changes, I could confirm that "PlayAsync=Yes" is working fine on my case (r4863). Not having stuck on GUI and simultanous sound*.wav are also well played after GUI loaded.

(But, I'm using AudioDxe.efi from him #btw).

#FunPart is: Bcoz PlayAsync=true is working, now if your sound*.wav has long duration; it'll bcome BackgroundSound on Clover GUI.. it'll be stopped once boot*.efi (or any OS) loaded.

But also consider the size; 7 minutes "Metallica - One" as WAV | 44100Hz | 16kbps | 2 Channels - could produce more than 100mb #LoL. The question is What do you do spending 7 minutes on Clover GUI? hah haa

I think 3 - 10 seconds is fine. My boot timeout is 10 seconds so that works well for me.

The only thing not working is boot timeout with any svg theme. Just freezes.

For me, as I was never able to get sound @ boot, that was the only way to get it to work...  so i ended up making an installer building and including all files from Goldfish64 repository directly into clover. also no need using them to have  "PlayAsync" set on config. it does it directly.

So why I asked about SMALL library to decode ogg file.

ogg file compact sound 1 minute = 1 Mb.

Hmmb OK, assumed something else made it works.. I see diff. size for my precompiled AudioDxe*.efi compared to one provided by SourceForge. Could bcoz Xcode version used, 8.2.1 here.. ah, so both definitely are same (I think).

Previous topic about UEFI Shell; I just realized that vit9696's patched Shell (OpenCoreShell) also has ability to > edit efi\clover\config.plist. Thanks anyway.

Yes,, with AudioDxe + BootchimeDxe from GoldFish Repo + Clover r4862. I can set play Async = Yes/True in config.plist. No Hang / Freeze again. Sound before and after GUI is good.

BootchimeDxe not needed anymore. Clover has built in config.

That’s how I want it too, no chime until I press boot on macOS drive. Can this be done?

I think we have misunderstood here.

So my system can
1. Play audio theme before and while in GUI CLOVER
2. Aftee press enter in macos drive

I think we should use BootChimeDxe.efi to get sound after press enter in macos drive

Another fun thing is; even we enter EFI Shell, sound is still playing. Changing to another theme (assummed with diff. sound) will also change the sound. It will be stopped once F7 pressed, cool. My CPU is bit hot though.

If only when pressing Enter to select another theme, it'll applied directly then go to MainScreen w/ Esc several times (?)

So BootChimeDxe.efi is needed to play sound after gui? In tools folder or Drivers64UEFI?

PlayAsync = yes or no for sound after gui?

Yes,,, With AudioDxe.efi only then we will get sound before and while in CLOVER GUI,, with AudioDxe.efi + Bootchimedxe.efi then we can play audio before and while in GUI CLOVER + After press enter di macOS drive.

BootChimeDxe.efi still need AudioDxe.efi. AudioDxe.efi is playing audio from Sound.wav and sound_night.wav in theme folder.

Please correct me if i was wrong

See this,,
1. Audio before and while in GUI CLOVER is Kamen Rider Black Rx Opening (i converted it to sound.wav and sound_night.wav)
2. iPhone Ringtone Call is audio after press Enter di macOS Mojave Partition

:)

Sound after GUI doesn't need PlayAsync properties. It's for Sound Theme while in GUI CLOVER.

Sorry for bad english

What options have you set in clover for it to work like that? I only have one sound that is either before GUI or before and during GUI but not when I press enter on Mac drive.
Also how do you set 2 different sounds?

I just tried AudioDxe + BootchimeDxe from GoldFish Repo + Clover r4863. I confirm that now you can set Async = Yes/NO in config.plist. No more freezes. The sound is excellent, both before and after the start of the GUI. Great respect to the developers! :thumbsup_anim:

I am making a minimal Clover build for the fastest boot possible with the boot6 file in legacy mode.
While looking at the preboot.log, I noticed that there is a line without explanation (at 0:892). Apparently, whatever it is, the execution time of it is close to 2 seconds, more than 55% of the total logged boot time in the current configuration. This does not change whether I use USB 2 or USB 3 port.

Is there a way to eliminate or speed up the above? Also, is there anything else you can suggest to improve the performance based on the below log file? Which moment in the boot process corresponds to the start time in preboot.log?
The last thing I would like to understand is the delay/timeout after the boot6 file has loaded, and the number 6 disappears from the screen. For about 2 seconds or slightly less, I can press any key, and then it will enter the BIOS-like interface from the boot6 file. Without further knowledge, it seems like those 2 seconds are just delay time, and only after that is CLOVERX64.efi actually started, which, I presume, is approximately when the preboot.log timer starts. So, if the aforementioned is correct, can I get rid of this delay as well? Note that I am using the boot1f32 file to chain-load boot6, which does not include the initial 2-second wait period for a keypress.

      I used this command: diskutil info disk0s2 | grep -i "Partition UUID" | rev | cut -d' ' -f 1 | rev

But I accidentally removed the wrong disk and now my main windows drive is not appearing in the bootloader. I can't figure out how to get it back. I tried resetting my windows drive, but I kept getting an error. I also reset my mac and reinstalled Catalina.

Im having similar issue with my HS setup, dell latitute 3480, i5-7200U
Once the hdmi plugged in, the laptop display went blank, only could see the external tv
But, when i put my laptop to sleep & wake up again, both screen got display (hdmi still connected)
Even the hdmi could be plugged off & in (after sleep), the laptop display is fine

      What could be the culprit?

Hi, I'm trying to install Mac Os Catalina on a HP 550-132NL.
      The system has:
      i7-6700
      RAM 12 GB
      GT 730
      LAN Realtek RTL8161
      ALC3863

It passes the verbose phase but after the Apple logo goes away, it gets stuck on a grey screen and I can only move the pointer.
Can I try to boot with the iGPU?
