Both possible.

Well, your Realtek codec is not different from many others and configs are good.

You have

First group

 nid 20 0x01014010 as  1 seq  0 Line-out      Jack  1/8     Rear    External Green   misc 0
 nid 21 0x01011012 as  1 seq  2 Line-out      Jack  1/8     Rear    External Black   misc 0
 nid 22 0x01016011 as  1 seq  1 Line-out      Jack  1/8     Rear    External Orange  misc 0
 nid 23 0x01012014 as  1 seq  4 Line-out      Jack  1/8     Rear    External Grey    misc 0
There is first output Rear Green

Second group

nid 27 0x02214c20 as  2 seq  0 Headphones    Jack  1/8     Front   External Green   misc 6

It is headphone jack at Front Green

Third group

nid 30 0x01456130 as  3 seq  0 SPDIF-out     Jack  Optic   Rear    External Orange  misc 0 NoPresenceDetect

also you have HDMI output from Nvidia card.

Which one are you expected to use for startup sound?

I use this one: nid 20 0x01014010 as  1 seq  0 Line-out      Jack  1/8     Rear    External Green   misc 0. After restart, Clover don't keep startup sound output settings on my system, except volume level.

Yep, as you can see in my previous post, there seems to be an issue reading that setting once set. But it shouldn’t affect its functionality. And also, F7 doesn’t do anything for me either.

But is the sound playing if you select volume and Realtek option, then Return, then Restart? Cause that’s the most important part.

I select volume and Realtek option, then I restart: there is no sound because Realtek is deselected!!! Startup option sound selects automatically Nvidia HDMI

Mat, the selection issue is a different issue. default_smile.png believe me. It shows HDMI as selected (first option in the list) for me, too, even after selecting Realtek. Still, the sound itself works properly. And it’s NOT coming from HDMI.

So, the selection problem is just a visual issue. It shouldn’t affect the actual functionality.

What if you select the other options from the Realtek list? Does any of them work?

Again, not talking about being showed as selected in that menu. Most likely, they won’t be. Just if the actual sound is heard after selecting them and restarting.

Hmm, could you please upload your Clover folder? Something has to be different. :)

I can only test sound correctly with bootchimecfg.efi.

I choose 5. Line out. But after restart, no sound again.

Awesome, Audio via r4857 is working fine on my mach with ALC269-VB through Output Speaker or Headphone.

It seems a good time for updating all my uploaded Themes on repo with sound*.wav included #LoL (if only it supports *.ogg with smaller size, good quality but.. #NVM, 44100Hz with 1 Channel (Mono) is small enough for WAV, I think.

#Question: Any simpler way knowing Native NVRAM is functional? Yeah, on my case CloverThemeManager gives me info about it; not sure though.. NVRAM vars are also saved & loaded upon booting.

Hmm... Mat, your sound.wav seems to be 22.3 kHz instead of 44.1 kHz. Not sure that would make a difference....but I'm trying to take them one by one and see where does it fail. Also, make sure you have the latest Clover installed. And update AudioDxe upon installation, just in case there could be something in that that could create issues.

Also, I'd say...try to clear NVRAM (F11 on Clover boot selection screen), then try to set everything once again.

Could you, please, try the attached sound.wav instead?

Your setup looks ok... And if it works from Shell with option 5, that should also be the choice for Clover Startup Sound UI.

Could be.. On my tests; 8000, 44100 (Hz) are working.. while 11025, 22050 are not.

(Not really sure with 48000Hz, my issue with this freq is damn big *.wav size #LoL)

Well, both 44100 and 8000 are set to work. They're supposed to work. Other values...not sure. I honestly haven't tried that. But better try to work with files that are supposed to work, to minimise the points of failure. But if you did try them, then, as you said, that could be why it doesn't work for him... Only one way to find out. :D

me too. but 8000hz sound is not good. similar electronic sound. f7 test sound with bootcamp theme, same too(electronic).

in my case i can listen good quality with only 44100hz.

so, clovy theme sound is not good for me. because it has 8000hz

EDIT1.

when play clovy theme sound.wav in itunes, sound quality is not bad. it doesn't have electronic sound.

i think clover force to change frequency? 8000 hz to 44100hz? in this process, generate electronic sound?

i don't know exactly. i didn't see it in detail.

I've got the sound, now. Thanks a lot. I did not check my downloaded file on the forum on a previous post

The sound come on Clover "scan entries" instead of Clover GUI. Is this normal?

Haha! The sound should be played before the UI shows up. I don't have "scan entries" activated, but yeah, I think that's probably intended.

Also, you're welcome. :)

Same.

Awesome!

Is there a way to get rid of the metallic sound of the wav? It played clearly testing with BootChimeCfg but when hitting F7 in the Clover options and when it plays automatically it is buzzy.  My desktop it plays fine. Stupid laptop.

The sound by F7 is not Chime sound it is guitar sound by Roger Glover.

EDIT:

Yes but the sound.wav from Clovy theme was metallic and buzzy when played at boot.

"If 8000 works then 48000 works too."

Thanks for this.

Updating from 4858 to 4859 and converting the wav to 48000 32 bit float fixed it. This is crazy awesome!

But here is what it was like before

Question:

is there a way to set display Menu ratio X:Y ?

my native screen is FHD 1920x1080 (16:9 = 1.778)

but i have to boot with 1280x1024 (1.25) or 1024x768 (1.333)

so everything looks squashed.

I am using Clovy - so it may be adjustable? - I see scale multipliers but not sure for non-uniform x vs y.

No idea... This is what it looks like in my case. And...believe it or not, option nr 3 seems to be Realtek ALC 892 according to DPCIManager.

Update: On October 24, 2020, using clover to solve the macOS11 beta10 boot problem, you can now enjoy macOS11beta10, and the compatibility of subsequent versions is not guaranteed.
HIDPI uses a modified version. You can directly execute the hidpi script to get a better experience. If you lose the repair, it is not within the scope of my support.
Support upgrades without destroying the integrity of the original image.
There seems to be a problem with the shortcut keys. If you can help solve it, thank you for your contribution.

Perhaps it was the first NEC (Lenovo) Lavie Z HZ550 to install hackintosh. I hope more people who like Lavie Z series can experience Hackintosh at HZ550. She is really great.

I found HZ550 & HZ750 on the Chinese website, which is amazing. It weighs only 790g, 13.3 inches, and the standard 2k screen, which is too attractive to me. I am a Hackintosh enthusiast. I think HZ550 or HZ750 with MacOS is the best Unfortunately, the Lavie Z series is not listed in China, only exists in the Japanese and American markets, and in the Japanese market is the NEC brand, while the American market uses the Lenovo logo.

Fortunately, I got an HZ550 from Taobao. Yes, not HZ750. In comparison, HZ750 has more touch screens and 360 ° flip. These are hard to attract me. More importantly, HZ750 is about 200g heavier than HZ550 That's why I chose HZ550. Well, because he is only 2,000 RMB.

The specific introduction can refer to NEC Japan official website:http://nec-lavie.jp/products/hz13b/

The HZ550 hardware list I obtained:

Advantages: small size, light weight, 2K screen, 8G memory, 512g SSD, keyboard feels good, and wireless network card can be replaced, which is unimaginable in today's thin and light books.
Disadvantages: The sound is small, almost the same as the mosquitoes.

      Ok, bragging is over!
In order to use the wireless network, I changed the wireless network card from inter 7265 to BCM94352ZAE. Some people called it DW1560. It is uncomfortable that in China, this card and his elder brother DW1830 were hyped to a high price of 480RMB. of. Fortunately, I bought it early, and this card is also very stable under win10, and there is no high delay and outage. The hard disk should be PM951 of Samsung, not PM981, which is lucky.   Before installing Hackintosh: You need to prepare a 16G U disk, SanDisk is not a rough choice for making MacOS installation disk, I used the latest MacOS Catalina 10.15.5, got config.plist from Rehabman, and put together an EFI, the latest version of clover and kext drivers. Thanks to Rehabman and the developers of the Black Apple community. I do n’t like that OC team very much.
Make an installation disk: If you have a computer running MacOS, you can use the command line to make it, if you do n’t have a computer running MacOS, you can try VMware, I know that the insanelymac forum allows discussion, or use ether to write the image to U disk, use the EFI I provided to boot into the installation process.   BIOS setting: Press F12 at boot to enter the BIOS settings, Tab switches to "Security-Secure boot", set to "DISable", this is what we need, and switch to "Boot -Boot devices", set the U disk as the first boot item You can directly enter the clover guide interface, please follow it for google it.
It is worth noting that the remaining space of your EFI partition needs to be greater than 200M, otherwise, the disk format will be wrong. In addition, the format partition format is APFS, do not choose to encrypt, your data is not valuable, at least you must have this awareness of Hackintosh, the file safe is also the same, do not enable, do not use to find your mac, otherwise, change the machine, OK .   Fortunately, no additional ssdt patch is required. All the patch functions are implemented through clover. The flat Apple is turned on. This is to solve the problem of the flower screen. You can find a solution yourself.
Experience your black apple, this will bring a better experience than MacBook Pro.

      Hello All,

It's been a while that I am trying to update my system to 10.15.16.
The install seem to start, then at reboot time I only see the Normal boot and the Recovery option from the Clover boot menu.
None of those 2 allow to complete the update.

Is there any ways to force it to install and/or show the "Update" option on the Clover boot screen?

      PS: I'm using Z97-Gaming-3
