Do you mean HS icon on BS entries ?

There was a problem like that : the SystemVersion.plist was incorrect in preboot volume.

Yes I mean  HS icon on BS entries for Preboot

Edited by chris1111

If it's what I think, it also means that the detected version for that entry is HS, therefore kexts will be loaded from 10.13 instead of 11.

You can check that in the log. You can also check you SystemVersion.plist.

If it's that problem, Clover can't do anything, I think (but not sure as it never happend to me). You can also send me a zip of your preboot partition.

I don't think so. I didn't have HS icon on BS entries, as far as I understood. He did have a "dead" installation bootstrap folder on preboot partition.

See this is latest commits nothing change

I told you yesterday I boot from Big Sur HD Data volume with OpenCore that's happen to me after the update BS

Big Sur looks verry fragile I think

EDIT ***  after the update I have a volume Update on my APFS High Sierra and this is not the first time i see this on the web

I will reinstall HS on HFS+J maybe this solve my problem. I need High Sierra for building my old program

keep one thing in mind though, and I'll tell you from experience on 3 hacks, every time you start high sierra in HFS+, these go to change a plist in the big sur preboot and until you restore it, you won't be able to start big sur with CLOVER anymore but only with OC

I will test because now is in APFS and cause me trouble with clover

Clover is verry young for booting BS So I'm going to learn something about his behavior anyway I have nothing to lose because now it's a mess

it stores what I told you, it made me go crazy for over 1 month, if you remember I had also posted several screenshots.
Clover may be young for big sur, but he does very well, at least in my hacks, I also updated Z68/Z97/Z370/X570 to BS 11.3beta1 with Clover5129

I remember clover version 5115 used to auto detect model identifier even if i dont put smbios in config.plist. But later versions now defaults to MacPro3,1.

Hi @Jief_Machak

One more issue. here or il create ticket?

Edited by ellaosx

Yes, create the issue on GitHub.

Yes, I remember now that the issue is when HS in installed on HFS, which is not supported by Apple, I think... It's probably possible to create a workaround (like : do not use SystemVersion.plist from Preboot to get the version number) but does someone really need that ?

apart from me, I think not many. :D
Perhaps it would be useful to understand what reference OC has, since when high sierra modifies the systemversion.plist in the preboot of big sur, OC has no problems and starts it the same unlike Clover who identifies it as high sierra

Just now, iCanaro said:

I think the only problem here is that we need to identify the version before launching because of kext dir name.

OC doesn't need that, I think. OC use kernel build for conditional matching. Would be interesting to see if OC get the right kernel build when preboot is wrong (modified by HS). Most likely yes.

Then we could hard code something like : if systemversion.plist says HS, but kernel version says BS, correct BS version.

I don't know when it is broken. Tables from old Clover work perfectly.
Generation not working tables, frequency doesn't change and is constant 800 MHz. (It even is less than minimum for i7-3610QM 1200 MHz.)
I think generation tables is broken for all CPU IvyBridge and older.

From old Clover Working tables.zip

From new Clover Not working tables.zip

Check commit e24ceaa47.

This is 5 years old bug. It was not noticed before if not used default settings.
