[Solved] DP3 installation can't start...

Hi,

I would like to test Mountain Lion DP3, the boot gone fine but after the language setting, this message appears...

"This Mac OS 10.8 version can't be installed on this computer"

However the DP2 was ok. What can be the problem?

I made my volume installation as Phame, by restoring BaseSystem.dmg, add mach_kernel, the package folder etc...

I use Chameleon 1924 that i did installed directly on my volume installation, usely it work great like this.

I tested different smbios, IM12.2 and MP5.1 but no better results. I also tested to boot up from my existing installation but no way to succeed.

Really thank for help

I had to make a new Smbios.plist. It seems that they are checking the model number and the board id. In your volume installation, check this file against your Smbios.plist. Make sure your board id is from the list at the top and your model is from the list at the bottom. Spelling and capital letters count.

/Volumes/Mac OS X Base System/System/Library/CoreServices/PlatformSupport.plist

Great, I picked up an SMboardproduct for my iMac12.2 smbios.plist, and it work fine.

thx

Also I wondering, when I use a MacPro smbios.plist, I have a kernel panic caused by AppleTyMCEDriver.kext.

Have you got any idea why I'm constrained to use an iMac's smbios.plist ?

This is not really a problem but I would prefer to use a MacPro.

Kext panicing is for time machine, but likley due to a power management issue, you can delete for the time being, just make a backup. if you still are using nullcpupowermanagement this could be the cause, or vice versa, not having it is causing kp. However rather than do any of that, you should use imac smbios, it more closely matches your hardware, no sandy bridge mac pro has ever been released, by using it's smbios you are crippling your native power management/speed step and should have better performance with imac. If you want MacPro icon vs imac in side bar, about this mac, finder's networking ,etc., you can customize it seperatly. I use my profile pic, but changing to mac pro is even easier.

I do not use NullCPM.kext but an AICPM.kext patched with a perl script.

But if as you said my performance should be lower with an MacPro smbios I will keep my iMac12.2.

The performances are more important than cosmetic.

Thanks

      Hello everyone.
I need to install Hackintosh on my PC. I have worked on MacOS before but never tried to install Hackintosh one so I'm pretty much newbie here. Can I install Hackintosh on this PC?
      Motherboard: GA-P75-D3
      CPU: Intel i5-3570
      RAM: Kingston 2x4gb
      GPU: Asus GTX 650
Specs are similar to this iMac: https://everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-i5-2.9-21-inch-aluminum-late-2012-specs.html

If I can install Hackintosh on this PC, Where can I start?

      Thanks & Regards.

      Hello.
I'm trying to install 10.13.3 for iMacPro on SATA SSD. The motherboard is ASUS WS X299 PRO.
The installation process hangs when 'less than a minute left' is displayed on screen. The last messages I can see in the installation log are at the picture attached to this post.
If I then reset the system and boot what was installed I can continue the installation. Unfortunately, it stucks at the end again. Next, if I try to boot what was finally installed I can even get to working system. But I cannot install the updates because of the same hanging at the end!
      This is not relevant to:
APFS or HFS+ - both hang Locked or unlocked MSR 0xE2 - both cases hang Special build for iMacPro or ordinary build - installing both builds hang Flash drive prepared using 'createinstallmedia', BDU or using RecoveryHD - all hang USB drive failure or disconnected USB port. I rule that out by installing from recovery partition with all USB drives disconnected. It is not a SATA disk issue. Tried to install using another SSD drive. Hangs. Also tried to install on HDD - hangs. Changing to iMac18,3 did not help as well. Lastest dev beta (common) did not fix it - hangs. Please help me to figure out what's wrong.
      My config file is attached.
Moving a bit further... The first stage of installation goes fine in Safe Mode (-x). Installation log indicates the same log message and after that it reboots immediately. Seems to be a normal behaviour. However, the second stage ("install macOS from <volume>") still hangs. Running the second stage in Safe Mode panics with "process 1 exec of /sbin/launchd failed".
SOLVED. It turned out that "hardware" NVRAM doesn't work with AptioMemoryFix on this motherboard. But works in Safe Mode. This is weird but it's true. Fallback to OsxAptioFixDrv2 + EmuVariableUEFIDrv solved my problem. Installation now finished just fine.
UPDATE. Turning off 'Above 4G decoding' BIOS option resolved the problem with NVRAM. Now I back to AptioMemoryFix.
