Dimitree
hi everyone I'm using snow leopard 10.6.7 (from retail) on my lapton (on signature). I tried to install Xcode 4 or higher, but unfortunately it can't be installed. Since Apple won't let download Xcode 4 on snow leopard but only on lion, I can only install it from dmg images that I find on the web. I tried many sources but with no luck, every installer says that the app can't be installed (after the password prompt). I've installed xcode 3.2 from the retail dvd, and it works. I'm not a paying apple developer, I just want to do some experience with app programming. does anyone know what could be the problem? bad sources for the dmg? (if so, can anyone address me on a good source?) could be that I don't have graphic enabler?
TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
The Xcode 4 preview has worked for me on 10.6.8 but I know back when they were testing Xcode 4 they had one for snow leo and another installer for lion.
Dimitree
Don't use the Installer, go into Packages folder and Install what you want. thank, but could you tell me what that means? I can't find that folder. what I do is launching the dmg file, then I get a little window with the mpkg package and a pdf file, I launch the mpkg but after prompting the password it says that the software can't be installed. nobbyclark
Might be too late, but take a look at Pacifist from CharlesSoft. It lets you install software without the intrusion from the OS telling you it can't be done. I used it to install iLife on my Lenovo S9 when OSX said it couldn't be installed. TIMMAYOSX
What you need is xcode 3.2.6 (with iOS SDK), however you will need to turn your date back to Jan 1, 2012 in order for it to install as the xcode certs have expired. Once installed, you can reset your date again.
