CDCosma
I am wondering before I purchase a retail DVD, Will a hackintosh retail be able to use softare update since it uses an actual install DVD? If I can do this how? Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/275770-will-a-retail-hackintosh-be-able-to-do-software-update/ Share on other sites

TH3L4UGH1NGM4N
I wouldn't entirely say without problems because unless your DSDT is worked out to perfection you might have to do slight fixes like say for GPU or audio etc. 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/275770-will-a-retail-hackintosh-be-able-to-do-software-update/#findComment-1795367 Share on other sites
Larx
Yes, I forgot to mention. Audio could be a problem. Since I have an external sound card, I never had this problem since version 10.6.3. But thanks to Insanelymac and chameleon team, all problems disappear quickly. Kynyo
It will work like a real Apple one! Do it without worryes Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/275770-will-a-retail-hackintosh-be-able-to-do-software-update/#findComment-1795446 Share on other sites
Morphium
Without worries is a bit understated. Every new update could incorporate severe kext changes in the OS which could lead to an unoperateble system. Always have a cloned drive before updating releases. But yes you can use either the Combo Update or Software update. xx66stangxx
What Morphium said is 100% correct, I have a cloned drive laying around just in case, that way nothing will be lost.
