davegarbs
Well, after getting sick of my x1600xt not working I decided I would give it one more shot using Neo's boris patch installer. After installing the patch, the screen was screwed up just like the last time (when I performed it manually). I think booted in -s and ran the deinstall script provided in /. Upon restart loginwindow is crashing and will not load. ("Starting Mac OS X" window remains on the screen with a full loading bar) The error I receive is listed in the system.log file: Sep 6 14:12:51 computer launchd: /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/Contents/MacOS/loginwindow port /dev/console exited abnormally: Trace/BPT trapSep 6 14:12:51 computer launchd: getty repeating too quickly on port /dev/console, sleeping If anyone has any idea what this could be please help me because I do not want to reinstall. I am running version 10.4.7 and have a 10.4.5 Myzar installation disk. Updating to 10.4.7 again did not fix the issue. davegarbs
Well, I have my gui back and have finally progressed past loginwindow.app but now Finder will not load. I have a fully working desktop (minus stuff like right click, etc) but finder has disappeared. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Neonkoala
Seems like a reinstall may be your only option. However you could try booting in safe mode (-x at the boot prompt) and see if you get a working finder there.
