as I described in my 3D about some guide.. using DSDT with a Intel DualCoreDuo.. It was possible to remove any disabler/nullcpupowermanagement in order to achieve a natural/vanilla proper use of the Operating System with sleep/scaling/power management of the cpu

and not only.. because from it depends a lot of other behaviours.

so.. this is one of the reason because I decide to remain with my systems.. and not to move to upper architectures.

but.. time goes on..

and now I have a sandybridge i7 (in my signature the hp dv6-6xxx)

and I see some innocent tries of someone that make a patcher for the intelcpupowermanagement kext.. but actually I can't boot without having a KP..

the nullcpu is necessary! {censored}

so.. It's nice to do experiences in the forum.. but.. I consider the nullcpu and this problem .. the first or one of those..

is there anyone that wants to share and try to solve that problem?

I have Lion on a P5N-E with a Q6600 that has a patched HDEF that enables it to boot without NullCPUPowerManagement.kext, however I have tried the same modification on a Sandy Bridge DSDT and the laptop KP'd just the same with "Kernel trap at 0x76af6378".

So I'm with you, a DSDT fix for Sandy Bridge would be very welcome, until then I'll have to stick with NullCPUPowerManagement.kext

yeap

tried 4 days ago.. no success

let me explain:

lion 10.7.1..

terminal in root user

launched the patcher.. it says done

reboot..

no luck

any advice?

should I use vanilla kernel instead of lapic patched kernel (to bypass cpus=1 problem)?

CORRECT MYSELF

I resume a carbon copy of 1st setup

applied the lion version of speedstepper.. and TADAH!!

thaks

now it run

sleep and lid open/close ok

woaaa
