Mild Fuzz
Having just suffered a HDD failure, I have managed to restore my machine to a new drive from a recent Time Machine backup, and have booted successfully, everything seems to be in order... EXCEPT....I can no longer boot without ##### disk. I have tried running ##### as per original install (Snow Leopard LifeHacker method) and changing boot priority in bios, neither have worked. Running 10.6.6, on an I7-860, Asus P7P55D-E and Asus 512mb Geforce 8400GS. Thanks.
Gringo Vermelho
You must reinstall Chameleon, Time Machine does not back up the boot sector/MBR.
Mild Fuzz
I didn't need to install Chameleon as part of the fresh install, I simply installed the OS and ran some stuff from ##### Can I use the ##### installer for this? what is the best process? Gringo Vermelho
If you didn't install Chameleon then what boot loader are you using now? And what did you use to boot into the installer? Just curious. I don't know anything about #####. Ask on the Tonymac forums. Mild Fuzz
Booted into installer using #####, then used ##### to run the ##### (a DSDT-free solution for any Core/Core2/Core i system. Chrisfromiowa
##### has the tony mac version of Chameleon (chimera) and many other kexts and scripts wrapped up in a neat package. I've been having a similar problem after a time machine restore. I was getting the boot0 hang and was only able to boot from a boot cd. I have tried a couple of things but using chimera and ##### system utils made my machine un bootable. Now I cant even boot from CD. I'm doing another system restore and am going to run pfix and chameleon. Make sure my partitions are still the same in boot.plist and pray. Anything else to look out for in restoring. I made system restore work a year ago and cant remember what I did. Thanks CFI
