JimiRobaer
Hey, Whenever I boot my system, the fan in my HD5870 and HD6850 gets quite noisy. On the HD5870, it's quite irritating, because it is so loud. I don't have that problem on Windows, so my guess is that it has something to do with the fact I'm using GraphicsEnabler? The frame buffer does get detected, iogrep gives me the right information. Anyone here with the same problem? Thanks! Thanks! the Magic Answer is beneath the Acceleration kexts for the GPU also the AppleGraphicsPowermanagement.kext in /S/L/E. It controls speedstepping ( fan-speeds and GFX clocks ) of the Ati's in OSX. When you look inside that kext you find entries for all macintosh models and their graphics cards. You need a SMBIOS that matches Graphicscard Powersettings for specific Mac Model that really has a similar card like you built in. Example : Laptop with Ati4650mobility = iMac 10,1 or iMac11,1 has infos for that cards, because in fact Graphics in iMac is a Mobility 4670 which is very identical to Laptops card of same 46xx series; so SMBIOS would be one of iMac 10 or 11 in order to activate powerplay / speedstep for Ati card of 46xx family. Of course the infos in this kext can be modded, so if you want SMBIOS of example MacBookPro5,1 but need Ati Graphics Setings for iMac10,1 you simply rename imac10,1 section in kext to MacBookPro5,1 .. just my example of how I do it. You need to find out for your card which mac to fake with SMBIOS.plist.
