Hi, I checked it, and I must say that it isnt Bluetooths false. Any USB device connected to netbook wakes it up immediately. Maybe its something with power management, or equivalent of windows-a-like "allow device to wake up the computer"?

What kexts have you installed on the machine, post-installation?

You need to probably install the powermanagement kext. That should fix the issue.

Thanks for reply. I installed AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement kext (actually just patched it so it loads - succesfully now), but sleep problem just wont go. It turns off the screen, for a moment it shutsdown (like a 0,2second) and it wakes up again. This is the list returned by kextstat: Weird thing is that this kext isnt listed here, while in system profile it is listed:

It's a normal behavior.  We're not using the stock kernel, and we're using the -f to boot. So the system cannot use the kernel cache to boot.

Once the system is boot up, you can expect a more responsive system than ML

Thanks for reply. I installed AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement kext (actually just patched it so it loads - succesfully now), but sleep problem just wont go. It turns off the screen, for a moment it shutsdown (like a 0,2second) and it wakes up again. This is the list returned by kextstat: Weird thing is that this kext isnt listed here, while in system profile it is listed:

Is there any other powermanagement kext?

Thanks for ur help anyway.

If you look at the date this kext was modified, it is very old, plus it is not modified. It is designed for real macs, not hackintosh machines. You'll have to install the correct version.

hello, is there any updated pack for 10.9 for 1201n? (extra folder + sle kexts, kernel, dsdt, etc etc) Thanks!

You can use same exact kexts and DSDT which worked in 10.8.5

You'll find the modified kernel among theconnactic's previous posts as for now, the kernel patcher module for Chameleon is not working with Atom.

Few pages back (42 I suppose) there are working files for 10.8.5 posted by theconnactic. You have to browse the last pages of this thread. It's all there. Good luck

Hello there

I did follow this guide quoted here, but when i pass the language choice, the installer is saying "Mac os x cannot be installed on this computer"

And than something about wrong hardware !!

I use ML 10.8.2 from store.

A little help please  :)

This is how I installed ML on 1201n

1. Prepare USB stick with 10.8 genuine copy from MAS
2. Install chameleon pkg from my folder into your USB stick.
3. Erase (if any) /Extra folder from your USB and copy this one.
4. Install... Reboot.
5. Boot from usb and select the partition where you installed ML
6. Install chameleon pkg on your ML partition.
7. Erase (if any) /Extra folder from your ML partition
8. Copy mine.
9. Run Kext Utility
10. You can now reboot or install OSX update combo.

I don't know if everything works (facetime, icloud... and), because I don't use them.

DSDT provided was modded by me to work with ACPI Backlight Driver provided by HotKoffy http://www.insanelym...cklight-driver/

My Extra package: http://d-h.st/6hT (FORGOT TO MENTION THIS DSDT IS FOR 2GB BUILDS)

Sorry I've forgot to include chameleon pkg into zip. I've attached it to this post

attachicon.gifChameleon-2.2svn-r2187.pkg.zip

Yes Mondi,

Please make a new thread for the Mavericks questions/installation guide. This will make this thread cleaner and be better organized.

I've updated to 10.8.5 but it's not booting, just with -x, if I don't use -x it hangs on org.navi.OemBIOS

I removed OemSMBIOS.kext from fakeSMC.kext (from /System/Library/Extensions/ ) but it still hangs

I finally did it: Running 10.8.5 from scratch with latest updates. Extremely happy with my 1201n, What a great investment!

I was running 10.6.8 for a long time and I was happy with it so I really didn't need anything else but then, with the arrival of Mavericks, curiosity called and started to follow this thread to get up to date with my OS X Hackintosh. I think Snow Leopard is kind of outdated and Mountain Lion is the right answer nowadays, no doubt about it.

It took me an entire week to make it work, starting with Lion 10.7.0 installations and trying to update to 10.7.5 and even tried with Mavericks 10.9.1. In the end, as information was unfolding I decided to go just the ML path till 10.8.5 which was my final goal. I can't tell you how many times I had to try and fail, over and over again. I was frustrated and even anxious, going through this thread from top to bottom to check what I was missing as information is kind of chaotic in here and your task will be to gather all the pieces together until you can figure this puzzle out. When your journey ends you got that feeling of relief and that all the effort was worthy but while on the road it was really hard as I said. It seems even simple and easy, as not many steps are required for your personal chosen method and particular configuration so you could even success in a matter of about 2 hours (installation times included) but that's when the puzzle's solved.

;)

I did a clean installation from a 10.8.5 OS X file. Yes, you can do that, no need to start from 10.8.0 or whatever.

I did use an installer (the best option, absolutely). "U**Be*st" was my choice for creating the bootable USB. When finished I just installed latest chameleon boot & patches updating its own boot created automatically.

The hard part was to guess the right files and Chameleon boot configurations but it is all here. So once you put the right files into the right place it comes the magic. I didn't use "Mu***Bea**" as I got the files right.

... I haven't finished testing the system yet but I plan to put my exact procedure in here. I have to say that after so much hard work I am totally exhausted right now. Please let me know if someone is interested to do it ASAP.

Good luck.

Of course, thanks to all the people involved in this matter for sharing information, files and ideas. You make this possible and I really appreciate it.

Hi, folks!

I decided to erase my 10.9 partition after the 10.9.2 update broke it. In fact, i hardly used it, because the user experience downgrade from 10.8.5, where every and all of OSX's features work as expected, is quite frustrating. A shame, because Mavericks, in itself, it's clearly a better system than its predecessor.

I think Mavericks will be worthy for us only when xZenue updates the kernel patcher - for what, by meklort's own words, there's no ETA. So that's the situation: we all know that Mavericks is possible in theory for our netbooks, but we who use OSX on them for anything, other than testing and debugging, are stuck with 10.8.5, at least for now.

All the best!

Same with me. I just reinstalled 10.8.5 yesterday after being tired of waiting for the KernelPatcher to be updated. And for all of you that still struggle to get OS X working on 1201n I'll make a brief write up with the correct steps and files that will enable you to achieve a working hackbook in less than 2 hrs tops.

I think the kernel patcher won't be updated unless meklort feels there's a widespread demand. The same happened in good old Mountain Lion days. People here really should talk to the xZenue staff, unless everybody else is satisfied with 10.8.x (or ditched ION hardware altogether).

All the best!

Hi,

As I said I am running 10.8.5 but not without some issues (that's why I didn't post the files yet nor the steps, sorry guys).

I have struggled with Audio and Wifi. Audio is working with the VoodooHDA kext but it's really awful. Wifi is now working fine.
Function Keys are not fully working either (Audio and brightness are the only ones enabled).

I couldn't get "Tivimac's" 4Gb DSDT with "Mirone/Toleda" appleHDA.kext working (I don't know why) so I had to resort to VoodooHDA for audio and the DSDT from "Mosslack".  :wallbash:

... And for all of you that still struggle to get OS X working on 1201n I'll make a brief write up with the correct steps and files that will enable you to achieve a working hackbook in less than 2 hrs tops.

That would be great. I'd try again to get the inconveniences I am having solved. Otherwise my system is working fine.

I am also waiting for Mavericks so I hope it could finally happen shortly. 1201n is performing good and it deserves this last effort. Thank you for your help here.

One last thing: Could you post a compilation of your files?

Thanks.  :thumbsup_anim:

INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR OS X 10.8.5 for 1201N with 4GB memory installed

1. Get a working hack or a real mac. Without this you won't be able to do anything*

2. Download OS X Mountain Lion installer from the Mac App Store

3. Download

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7085278/Chameleon_Installer/download.html

4. Download

http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26973172/Extra.zip

5. Download

http://www.osx86.net/files/file/1388-latest-kext-utility-10-8-edition/

6. Get a USB stick that is at least 8GB in size. Format it as 1 partition Mac OSX Journaled with Master Boot Record table. Name it USB or whatever.

7. Download "a known tool" to prep OS X USB installers. Run it, select the USB stick to install to, select the correct OS X version and do not choose "Laptop Support"

8. Wait till the utility finishes

9. Unpack my Extra.zip

10. Run Chameleon Wizard and install the latest Chameleon bootloader to the USB stick

11. Copy the Chameleon Wizard app to the root of the USB stick

12. Copy Kext Utility to the root of the USB stick

13. Using Path Finder app or Forklift you can check an option to show hidden files or use the Finder/terminal workaround: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

14. Find a folder named Extra on the root of the USB stick, erase everything you find inside and copy files from my linked Extra package

15. Eject the USB stick

On to the 1201N...

1. Plug in the USB. Start your 1201N and enter BIOS settings

2. You need to enable AHCI mode for the hard drive - that's the most important part

3. Reboot and hit Esc to enter the boot menu

4. Choose your USB stick

5. You should arrive at the chameleon bootloader screen and you again choose your USB stick

6. OS X installer should start in a few moments.

7. Once inside the installer you go first to Disk Utility and prepare your internal 1201N hard drive. I recommend two partitions: one for OS X and second for your media files. You should choose Mac OSX Extended journaled and GUID partition table

8. Quit the Disk Utility once everything is done and continue with the installer

9. Install OS X and after it finishes, reboot the 1201N and hit Esc at BIOS post screeen and choose your USB again

10. When you arrive at the chameleon bootscreen choose your system partition

11. You should now arrive at OS X finishing the installation and after you set up everything to your liking you should arrive at the desktop. If your have a compatible airport WLAN card you should be able to connect to WiFi at this point but I don't recommend it yet.

12. First order of business is transferring the Extra folder from the USB stick to the system partition root.

13. Copy Kext Utility to you Applications folder

14. Open /Extra/Extensions folder so you see all the files inside, select them all and drag them ON the Kext Utility app. It should ask for your password and after that, it will install all those kexts.

15. Sound should work now. Ethernet as well. You have access to the internet now. If not, reboot the 1201N using the procedure with the USB stick

16. Fire up Chameleon Wizard and download/install latest Chameleon Bootloader to your system partition

17. Randomize your serial number in the SMBios file through Chameleon Wizard

19. Log in to the Mac App Store

20. Log in to iCloud

21. You're done.

You should now have a working, booting OS X mountain lion installed on you 1201N

...INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR OS X 10.8.5 for 1201N with 4GB memory installed...

;)

Thank you for your help.

I think there should be an updated guide with clear steps and all the files needed for a fully clean and working installation of 10.8.5 to really close this thread and focus on Mavericks achivements.

B)

One Problem:

CHECK YOUR DOWNLOAD LINK IN STEP (4). Cloudup says "This Page does not exist".

:boxing:

I'll try with your files and the variations you've made from my own procedure, I mean the way I did it, and then I'll post the results ASAP. Just give me some time.
