Hi everyone,

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 that I have set up OSX on the 1st partition and Win XP on the second using bender's and broadband's generic install DVD. I have everything working great, my P4 has SSE3, etc, etc, except that I have a Radeon PCI 9200 video card. I am getting adequate, but non-accelerated, video performance for the most part. However, during the Darwin boot screen it is designating the card as a VESA 2 compliant 16mb card, when in fact it has 256 mb on it . Here is what I am getting in "about this Mac":

Display:

Type: VGA-Compatible Controller

Bus: PCI

Slot: PCI3

Vendor: ATI (0x1002)

Device ID: 0x5960

Revision ID: 0x0001

Kernel Extension Info: No Kext Loaded

Displays:

Display:

Resolution: 1024 x 768

Depth: 32-bit Color

Core Image: Not Supported

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Quartz Extreme: Not Supported

Is there advice that anyone can throw my was to get the card read as VESA 3 with the actual 256mb of video RAM? I know that, in this build at least, that it will not treat the card as a Radeon, but I would like to see what kind of graphics performance boost I might get with VESA 3. Thanks a million in advance for any advice!

I was working on the ATI driver issues for over a month and I got no where. If you use the search function on these forums you will see the thread, its 14 pages deep and has over 22,000 views. And not one person out of those 22,000+ people could make any real comitment to help me.makes for a good read but I can say with 99.999% certinty that you are SOL.Sorry
