I'm experienced with OSx86 installs, but I'm having some difficulty with my new Sandy Bridge machine. I'm trying to run 10.6.8, and from what I've read, the native kernel should work. But it appears that as soon as Chameleon tries to load the kernel the machine reboots. (It's hard to be sure, because even with -v not much shows up at that point.) The specific Gigabyte motherboard probably doesn't matter, but mine is the GA-H67A-UD3H-B3. My CPU is a Core i5-2500K. I'm also wondering about support for the HD3000 graphics, which some real Macs have, but first I need to get it to boot :-)

Anyone have a configuration like this working? What are you using for a boot loader and kexts?

I have my machine booting now. The solution was to use a current build of Chameleon from svn (and 10.6.8 is required.) I'm using a trunk build of r1135, and I have everything working except the HD3000 graphics. I didn't have to do anything special for Sandy Bridge. The Chameleon developers are doing a lot of work on it now, and it changes frequently. I'm looking forward to the new release.

For the HD3000 graphics, there is hope. The most promising thread I found is here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=24054
