Acidic
Hey all, I recently replaced my 8800gtx with a 5870 radeon card, and find i need to upgrade to snow leopard. Any way to do this? I installed 10.5 retail and it was working great with my nvidia card. i can no longer boot onto mac with my 5870 however. I created a boot 132 disc and attempted to boot from the install snow leopard dl dvd but all I get is a black screen or Darwin x86 is loading... Any help would be great. Thanks! josephien
first of all, install snow leo with your nvidea card upgrade it to 10.6.4 at least and then use your ati card as that card is only supported from 10.6.4 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/259377-snow-leopard-retail-upgrade-of-105/#findComment-1698884 Share on other sites

Acidic
so I booted up on 10.5 using safe boot because my 8800gtx burnout and I'm forced to use a 7950gtx. It booted fine in safe mode and I popped in snow leopard and told it to install. It obviously failed becuase it says it still is running 10.5.8. Do I need to boot on the Snow leopard disk and install from there? Will this delete anything on that drive? Thanks! josephien
you can install snow from within leo if you go to the installer package on the cd (google for it , osinstall.pkg on DVD) or the easy way is to have a bootcd handy and then use the snow leopard DVD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/259377-snow-leopard-retail-upgrade-of-105/#findComment-1701057 Share on other sites
