WOW does no one out there own a mac mini pre 2010 and a ruler? hold on wait let me just check what i wrote "now did i ask if i could tickle someones balls and slap them with shamu....nope not this time, definitely about a mac mini" come on guys really? Or is it so blatantly obvious it wont fit that your saving me the embarrassment of being told no? I do mean with a little bit of modding so kinda roughly fit?

mac minis are tiny not sure you will be able to do much with it apart from a cd rack or fitting it in your car. i was looking at something when i was in the local apple store near me. theres this router or something like that that looked like a g5 case but really small i was thinking about that as a micro atx i will have a look around for it a sec

or maybe 2 of thoes stuck together.

you have to think outside the box to get it in the box

"you have to think outside the box to get it in the box " love that quote ha!

I have a strange feeling this may turn into ...alternate uses for a mac mini case :) ha!

I love the mac minis but they are a bit shizzle really just a nice idea all in a lil box you can easily move around it would be nice to turn it into what it was meant to be

i was thinking about something like this inside

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/c...0-g0eay0dz.html

with on board gpu's getting better this could work i think with a small solid state drive

you can even get 35w sandy chips would be lovely

ahhh in fact this would easily fit with 4cm spare width and 4 cm spare depth!!!

OHHHH NO

now ive proved it means spending more monies :/ lol

I definitely wouldn't mind this in a mac mini case

sub 500 quid for what would currently out perform my full atx build :D

in fact it would even fit the new one

and apple lower specs are over £600

I wanted to do this too. With the mini itx board i have (17cmx17cm) it would be too big for the old mac mini. However, it would fit in the new ones, but its just the height that is the issue. If onboard gpu's were a viable option it could work well, unfortunately, to my knowledge you still need a discrete gpu so its too much height!

May I ask why you went for the i5-2500K over the 2500 or the 2400?

im building an ultra cheep version of your build ha ha the specs are so bad its embarrassing so i wont say but it costs around £180 with a lot of money saving going on here

gr4fk hows the build going. i have been looking at what your trying to build and made a scale model out of cardboard. hight is an issue. obviously its all about how you lay it out and i have put 2 micro fans in my model but it doesnt look like it can be done with the mac mini. so i have just designed a new case out of cardboard that will fit and is about an inch taller.

the model is funny i could actually just build a pc into it. want to see a pic? of the new model?

tbh I have the parts just sitting there i am starting a new job so haven't had the chance to breathe let alone think ha!

what are your height issues? when looking into it the only issue would of been the cpu cooler but guileg and akasa do a low profile 20 mm high fan. the only thing then i can imagine is the actual physical height of the rear i/o panel. glad to see you keeping the dream alive :(
