MacMartin
At the moment I have my Hackintosh allmost fully workin', except for my SPDIF-out. I use an Asus P5W DH Deluxe with ICH7 ALC882 build in audio, with works perfectly with an analogue headphone. The only 'problem' is that I don't like to use the headphone and I don't have PC-speakers. Normaly, my audio uses the Marantz Home Cinema receiver, and I also want this for OSX. My plan is to buy a cheap USB of Firewire card, which supports SPDIF and is supported by Hack OSX. I heard some rumors that a Creative Soundblaster Live 24-bit USB should work, but couldn't find anything that made sure that it works. AC3 5.1 is nice to have, but no need. Any of you using SPDIF? Or any suggestions about a solution for my situation?

miramar
I have just bought the Soundblaster Live 24-bit External USB (~USD44). I will report here as soon as I have the time to try it out. Problem is the hackintosh is in the office and I don't have an AC3 decoder there. I'll see what I can do. mir...

MacMartin
Yesterday I bought a Soundblaster Audigy NX, but no SPDIF-out. SPDIF-in worked. The analog sound was not as good as my ALC882 onboard device, so I returned the Audigy. I haven't tested the multi channel config.
