fantomas
hi guys !!! that's it , I succeeded in installing Lion on a partition MBR and starting her without key usb !!! In made to be able to install it in MBR, I used the tuto of installation of DP 2 which I installed on DD in GPT!!! This cool installation I cloned it with CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner) and made a .dmg picture (I have only the single DD as Lion) that I put on Snow!!! Then I formated my DD of Lion in MBR, create 2 partitions over (one for Bootloader in MS-DOS and other one for picture clones in HFS journalised) Under Snow I cloned picture towards the second partition with CCC and for the first one, I used DueToHdd to make my partition bootable and I copied the last version of XPC over!!! Boot Lion without problem and without key usb, upturn walks very also !!! The Edge3000
I use this this IOUSBFamily.kext from this post, solved my USB issue. Thanks for that.. it got Lion installer to recognize my keyboard! No USB mouse is recognized wherever I put it (Port 1, various ports, front panel, ect). So I am one baby step closer to installing.. I can hit enter on English and tab through the license agreement! Aivarz
As far as I can tell, for now it is NOT possible to install Lion directly to MBR partitioned disk. One can only install it on GPT partitioned disk and then clone to MBR partition. As since 10.6.x to install on MBR we need two things: remove checks in OSInstall.mpkg AND have patched OSInstall framework. Latter apparently need binary patching, but I was unable to find info about what exactly need to be done, there is only some prepatched versions for 10.6.x floating around. fantomas
fact to use OSInstall.mpkg patched, there is no more appellation " direct installation ", as you say it !!! Fact to use a picture cloned is as well as to use OSInstall.mpkg patched, in the 2 cases, OS X turns nativement !!! My method works very well, if you want to test it, you can and you will see by you even from what is there !!!! P.S : already, to install Leo DP 2, it is necessary to patche OSInstall.mpkg!!! As I specified it, I first installed Lion on a partition GPT, and it is this partition there that I cloned on DD formated in MBR Try first and afterwards you will say to me news!!! bcc9
(See my sig for hardware)bios config: cpu clock ratio:32 usb 3.0 disable onboard serial disable hpet 64 bit But ##### didn´t show on screen the devices until I disconnected the dvd drive. I´m using a patched dsdt placed in acpi-patched and fakesmc in 10.7. If you finally can see the boot drives, select the lion install one and press M; then delete all data related to cpu and memmory and set kernel boot flag to -v; also product name change it to MacBookPro8,1. Can you be more specific, as I had already tried the logical things with ##### 1.5, including all of the bios settings shown above except for the underclocking of the CPU, to no avail. According to your signature, your cpu is a 2500k, so the correction clock ration would be 33. I have a 2600k, with a clock ratio of 34. I just tried underclocking to 32 and 33, but those made no difference (still get a black screen no cursor when I boot ##### 1.5a). The Edge3000
I'm having one of the strangest problems... After following ricola's advice and using Andy Vandijck's IOUSBFamily I got my keyboard, but not mouse working via USB. I managed to tab through the install procedure and after booting into Lion and setting up my account, I spent ~15 minutes of trying to figure out the keyboard shortcuts for everything lol. I managed to open terminal, type defaults write com.apple.universalaccess mouseDriver 1, log out/in and begin using the numkeys to control the pointer. (Makes you REALLY appreciate how much you use the mouse!) However, in System Profiler it recognizes all my USB devices! It even mounts my USB HDD bay, and I can access files on them! So for some reason.. Lion likes all my USB devices EXCEPT the mouse. I've tried another USB travel mouse, and I've tried all the different ports.. but no luck. Shaithis
PCI CONFIGURATION BEGIN error happens with latest nvidia cards in my case , ive got a 560 gtx ti, when i try with a 8800gt installation success ,thanks for your support guys . There´s no way to bypass this problem? There is, I just wish I could re-create it. GTX580 here and after hours of trying I did ONCE get past it and onto the installer page, only to hit an ACPI Platform error...... My latest cunning plan revolves around imaging a VM drive from a working Lion VM install and restoring it over my OSX dev partition and then applying any fixes to get it functional again..... As to the one time past that message......I believe it was while using ##### 1.5a, although I have had numerous unsuccessful attempts since with it and 1.4, a whole bunch of versions of XPC and several attempts with netkas' EFI/chameleon solution.......all stop at that same darn message..... Starting to get all these USB drives muddled up.... Have you tried installing with the 8800 and then swapping the cards? cantyjeffrey
Hey guys, I am wondering if I can get some help. I had DP1 installed no problem using the ##### method but 2 weeks later, removed it since there was no support for fermi based cards. Now DP2 shows promise, and I followed the same procedures as DP1, patching the OSInstall.mpkg, adding and changing permissions of fakesmc.kext, etc. But when I use ##### 1.4 I get the 'PCI CONFIGURATION BEGIN' error. So then I tried going the route of XPC and using that, I get a solid underscore that does nothing (left it there for 15 minutes to make sure) - so I am at a loss of what steps I need to take to get this running. If you are familiar with the lifehacker Snow Leopard build that is pretty much what I have with the exception of a GTX 470 Video card. Motherboard is a EP45UD3P Gigabyte - I am sad to say that I am very much a 'n00b' in terms of DSDT's and adding EFI strings and all that mess, so if anyone could offer up an "idiots guide" of what I need to do to get the installation to run, that'd be greatly appreciated. I have read every single line of this topic and tried a few things, and have been reading up on nekas blog too with his new boot file, but I have no clue even if that would a) work or how to set any of that up. Anyways, go easy on me - We all started off as ignorant as I am, and I have tried searching for solutions, would just appreciate some help on getting DP2 on my system. Thinking outside the box, I have the 9800GTX+ lying around somewhere and I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that DP2 would install no problem with that: so could I install with that card, install the new nvidia drivers, pop the new card back in, restart and be good-to-go? Or since I had no problems getting DP1 on my computer, should I install that first and then try to upgrade? Thanks so much for your help, ladies/gents!
