grady.lynch
I am currently running Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.6 on a 160gb HD and Windows 7 Home Premium on a 750Gb HD. The bootloader is Chameleon RC4 and is installed on the 160gb HD. Both systems were running flawlessly exscept that Windows wouldn't sleep. Then I moved my computer to the Apple G5 case that I modified and the only things that changed were I replaced 2 fans and swapped a Power Suply (both have the same wattage: 650W). After hours of work, everything seemed to work until I powered it on. Problems with my computer that were not present before I transfered to the G5 computer case: 1.When I first powered on the computer I got a POST error. I then reset the bios settings and then changed them back. 2. 2 minute boot time into both OSX and Windows 3. DVD drive won't eject in OSX or Windows (windows explorer goes into not responding mode when i right click the D: drive) 4. Logitech keypoard and mouse both work, but the special functions of them (volume +-, eject etc did nothing. but then 5 minutes later the screen displayed the commands I had issued 5 minutes ago. 5. Mouse with disc icon occurs randomly; never happened before 6. SUPERAntiSpyware Doesn't respond when I try to scan compute 7. After Effects works fine (I would think it would fail because it is such a demanding program) I try to look at the POST screen when I boot up the comp but it either flickers for a second or doesn't display anything other than the fact that there's dual channel ram installed I didn't change any hardware when switching the cases; just changed the PSU and added a couple of fans. I double checked all the connections (sata, power etc) The G5's front panel required a special cable. It had a power connector, a single prong connctor that I don't know what it is used for, so I plugged it into the NC (not connected) usb 5+ connector, firewire connector, and sound connecton. After trying a few configurations of the wires, I found one that would allow the PC to turn on. Therefore, my first thought was that I somehow had a virus. On the third try, SuperAntiSpyware loaded and revealed no viruses. The only other reason that I can think of for all these things happening is that there is something wrong with my motherboard. ANY HELP OR ADVICE YOU CAN OFFER WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED Thank you for your time and I hope you can help me. Foxic
Hello mate, I've just done exactly the same mod but mine all went well. I can give you wiring diagrams for the front panel to get firewire usb sound power, everything working if you need them. I know it's a long shot but have you tried the old psu again? Just to see if it makes a difference. Out of interest can you post some pics of your mod? If you'r interested I've got a few pics here Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/248662-problems-problems-problems/#findComment-1643329 Share on other sites
