I've been using 10.6.2 on a Thinkpad T60 perfectly for sometime now, but I recently hit a speedbump. I was playing some videos off Youtube and got annoyed by all the ads, so I downloaded and installed Adblock for Safari. Big mistake. All of the Youtube videos then showed as blank white rectangles, though the audio played. So I figured I needed to update Flash and downloaded 10.2. This got rid of the white rectangles, but the skipping in videos was horrendous. So I disabled, then uninstalled Adblock, but there was no change. I then finally got 10.2 uninstalled and got 10.1 on the system. The videos still skipped crazily. I finally said to heck with Safari, and downloaded Firefox which mostly worked. There's still a little skipping, but it's pretty infrequent and mostly bearable. But there wasn't any before with Safari and whatever ancient version of Flash I had been using.

Has anyone else seen similar problems or have a fix? I'm aware that versions of Flash after 10r45 have issues if there's no OpenGL installed, but I have OpenGL/Core Image/Quartz Extreme all functioning on my laptop.

You can try Camino?

Camino is a OS X Browser.

When I installed Snow Leopard to my system and went to 10.6.6 with my video properly installed, Safari, Firefox, and Google Chrome randomly froze on sites with Flash, and Camino never did.

Try it out, it's pretty cool :)

Remove Flash from your Library -> Go to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and move the following kexts to some other folder (I used /Library/Internet Plug-Ins Disabled/) :

Flash Player.plugin

flashplayer.xpt

NP-PPC-Dir-Shockwave

Then get Youtube5 for Safari. It lets you view most videos without Flash. If you need flash, use Google Chrome. Enable the Developer menu in Safari and just click on the Develop Menu - > Open in Google Chrome!

That's the same reason why I don't like most Webkit-based browsers (regardless of OS) and stick to either Firefox (my default browser for Hackintoshery) or IE on Windows 7. Even Google Chrome has their share of Flash-related issues (not so much with YouTube as with Facebook, another Flash-heavy site). It's even worse that Apple and Adobe have what amounts to an *armed truce* - while the Mac has historically been the place to *create* most of the Adobe-format files found in the Internet, it's gotten to be an extremely hostile place as far as *viewing* most of those same file formats; for the most part, I have fewer issues in *Windows* compared to the Hack side of things as far as viewing Adobe formats. (The sole exception, naturally, is the PDF file format.)
