Hi,

I have a really strange problem, I have a Hackintosh 10.6.3 iAtkos on a PC with motherboard Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L and intel Quad Core 6600.

When i try to start the PT9 installation a message comes: Incompatible System - Pro Tools 9.0 is not compatible with your Macintosh PowerPC computer and cannot be installed. Press "Close" to terminate this installation.

Any ideas how to fix this thing?

Thanx

p.s. same with Pro Tools 8.0.3

Check the smbios.plist file in folder /Extra (assuming you have one) to see what the value of SMproductname is...

In 'About This Mac' does the processor show up as Intel?

Thanks for the quick reply,

I don't have /Extra folder in Library.

In 'About This Mac' : Processor 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

:)

The Extra folder won't be in Library, it would be in the root of your main drive...

Open up System Profiler and let me know what is says in the title bar of the window.

It says "Mac Pro"

(no Extra folder in the main drive)

MacPro3,1

Well, that blows my theory...

MacPro3,1 is the identifier for the 8 core Intel Xeon (Harpertown/Penryn) Mac Pro which is on the compatibility list for Pro Tools 9, can't imagine why the installer thinks it's a PowerPC...

I'll poke around some more and see if I can figure out what the problem is.

If anyone else has a possible solution please chime in...

Thanks! I really appreciate your concern! I hope to find the way out soon.

Hi all, friend of mine has the same problem. Pro tools installs but wount start. He had iAtkos distro installed before, so i helped him to install retail osx ( which im still trying to get working fully) after installation we tried to install pro tools 9. Guess what it worked :gun:

his mb is asus pk5-e, and the cpu is quad.

David

!!! Finally i got it !!!

The problem was in the kernel version. The only working kernel from the iAtkos 10.6.3 install on my PC was PCJ Kernel. After that I installed Legacy Kernel 10.6.3 from kexts.com and now I have access to the Pro Tools 9 installer!
