Explaination on what's happening with voodoohda

I installed VoodooHDA recently and wanted to try something else so I removed the kext(it was causing intermittent kernel panics...or so I thought anyway) from extra/extensions folder and removed the applehda kext and ran pfix. The next time I rebooted I got a kernel panic again. So I rebooted but this time I got to the desktop and the sound was still working. .

THere is no voodoohda kext in the extensions folder...there is one in some backup/extensions folder.

Is the kext being loaded from there some how?

I've also noticed that everytime I run pfix, the next reboot causes kernel panics..voodoohda related. But one more reboot and I'm in...with everything intact.

What is happening?
