Jadar
Hi all! I am trying to get my BIOS load times faster, and am wondering if it is possible to enable SATA AHCI Mode on only one SATA port. (The hard drive my Snow lives on.) I read somewhere that it is possible, I just can't find where that setting lives. I am running on a GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-UD3LR P45 motherboard. Thanks for the help! Gringo Vermelho
You can't do that, it's all or nothing. What's the problem with enabling it on all ports? If it's because you have Windows installed on another drive, then just type Windows AHCI mode in google to learn how to fix that.
Jadar
Well, yes I do have Windows on another drive. But it takes 15 seconds to detect all the drives every time I reboot.
peach-os
check your bios version - the latest versions gigabyte boards have AHCI 1.2 , which boots much faster than AHCI 1.
Jadar
Hey thanks! Would that mean that if I updated my BIOS I would get a faster boot? Would I have to get a new DSDT? Thanks again!
Gringo Vermelho
Yes, after upgrading your BIOS you should re-dump your DSDT and apply all your modifications to the new one.
