So, I hear the WPC54G works as an airport card. I have the WMP54GS, the speedbooster card. I can fool the drivers (I think) to load with the ID 14E4:4320. However, the wireless icon in the top right says Airport not configured. there's no NetworkPreferences.plist to edit to enable the adapter, and nothing in System Preferences to initialize it. Am I missing something, am I an idiot, or should I just buy a new wireless card (ugh)? Everything else works wonders, and since I wasn't exactly paying attention when I did the partitioning, the only OS I have now is the lovely 10.4.5.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

Thanks in advance

I have the same card but I only have it working if I disable (removing the kext) the integrated Networking card, try that and let me know if that helped.

I have that same card and it works perfectly without changing any kexts or any settings from the second i install. I am running the HotIso 10.4.6 image, and it works perfectly.

I'm unsing the kext

/System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext

if you don't have it, you can download it, its on 10.4.7 combo update then use pacifist to extract the kext.

then edit the file Info.plist and add this

<string>pci14e4,4320</string>

Now you should have your wireless wmp54gs fully working

packysause - after you got the airport ion to show and it says "airport not configured"

goto system preferences and then click network. now a pop up so show ans says a new port is recognized and it should says airport - at that point click ok or apply settings. then you can click the airport icon again in the menubar or open internet connect and connect to your wireless network

if that dosent work read this -> http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry140135

then retry steps from system preferences on.

hope that helps

that prompt never comes up, its like the driver knows the card is there, but it cannot configure it. the airport setup assistant (or whatever its called) said it would do it for me, but failed to configure the card. Any ideas?

My mobo, btw, is an intel D945PSN. I'll try disabling that kext a little later tonight and see if that helps.

I would just like to say that I am RETARDED.

I was looking in the WRONG SystemConfiguration folder for NetworkInterfaces.plist because apparently proper folder paths are unimportant to me.

The driver loaded when I modified the kext and then once I found that goddamned file I applied the en0->en1 and 0->1 tweaks and voila.

I <3 this forum, enb, and diabolik.

now with working internet i feel a lot better about f***ing up my windows partition.
