I have an ATI Radeon HD 4670 with 1GB DDR3 and DVI/VGA outputs. I am using Asus M4A78 Pro with a Phenom x4 9950. SL install with nawcom Mod CD v.3.1 and Retail 10.6.3 updated to 10.6.5 with combo update. Chameleon RC5

I'm just trying to get QE/CI. I see some people using the Flicker boot file but they don't say if you must have anything else for it to work. Must you use PC EFI? Because the new nawcom cd is the only thing that gets me up and running. If I put in my Radeon HD 4670 card I get kernel panic or re-boot. So will adding the device id help this problem or is that just for full working QE/CI???

My system is extremely stable right now but I need full graphic support for using software like Final Cut and such. I just don't want to mess up such a great running system by messing with the kext.

I need to know if adding device id will help, which kext do I edit, and if that will mess up my current system from booting up that uses the on board Radeon 3200 graphics card????

So I edited my apple.boot.plist file with GraphicsEnabler and string y. I also tried flicker boot file and vga boot file as I don't have a cable or adapter for dvi and I can't get it to work. I also installed the ATI kexts from the 10.6.2 combo update.

I can never find a straight answer. Do I have to use a certain bootloader or EFI?

I have a feeling that it might be working with dvi or with the adapter plugged in but I just don't have one.

I've tried everything I've read and as usual NO ONE IS HELPING!!!

Flicker or the VGA boot (whatever framebuffer that is, Motmot?) works on a few cards, but not on all.

My Club3D 4670 card works only with Eulemur. You should google for "#####" wich kabyls experimental boot includes.

You should enable screensharing, so you can test all the framebuffers that maybe work for you. See this thread:

AFAIK on 4670 cards you can test in a first step: Motmot, Flicker, Peregrine, Shrike. "My" Eulemur doesn't fit in the name-sheme for the FB, but works fine for me.
