Jwoofter
So I'm running a rock solid Jas 10.4.11 and it's awesome! I'm on an old P4 and have been trying to upgrade to leopard. I got so close with iAtkos v7 but I kept running into a stanky little problem of it only booting after an install and then never ever booting again NO MATTER WHAT!! LOL I couldn't find a good download of Jas 10.5 (so happy when I found on google Jas hd a 10.5 release) so I'm wondering if it's even still up and going? I ca find multiple fast downloads for every other distro but not Jas 10.5.
Markrtoon
Nope, I don't think it is, what happened with iAtkos?
Jwoofter
Darn I've had a good experience with Jas... The deal with iAtkos was really frustrating. I could only boot the install disc with -x -v but when it did boot the install went fine without a hitch. I ran into the usual problem of the "stuck at gray apple spinny wheel noobie blues" I tried booting with -x -v on loads of different combinations and finally found the right settings that would boot after the install and I was able to create an account and everything was fine but I was still in safe mode. So I restarted and tried to figure out what was going wrong but every time I boot with -x it would hang. If I booted with -v it would start the verbose message and then all of a sudden my pc would shut off like it was unplugged. I had no idea what was going on and after googling for about 2 hours I gave up and started looking for other distros to try. Long story short it would boot after a fresh install but every time I restarted or turned it off it would not boot again.

Hagar
noob mistake #3: try another distro. seriously, hunt-&-peck through multi GB downloads looking for one that will "just work" for your hardware is going to teach you nothing and if it succeeds it will just be a matter of sheer luck. Instead, try reading up on your hardware and issues to find fixes for the problem you're facing. you wouldn't reinstall windows or linux just because of 1 driver, and in this case you're most likely getting a whole new distro for the sake of a difference of less than100k.
