ksporry
I downloaded a file iATKOS_S3_version2 to install OSX (10.6.3 I believe) onto my ASUS Eee. I use iATKOS because it allows me to install OSX and keep functionality of the wifi without replacing hardware. So, I got the file, and I attempted to install it on a GUID formatted CF card, by doing a restore of an image file. my Mac tells me that I should first image scan it. So I do so, but then I get an "error argument" fault. What is the problem? did I download a defective file? I can do a checksum on the iso file, but how do I know the checksum is correct? Any suggestions?
Mushishi
You do know if a wifi card work with a distro it will work on a retail install also, it might just take a bit googling to find the kext or in some cases just a enabler... And disk utility dont like to restore a iso only dmg's is what i have concluded from tests...
dothacker
And disk utility dont like to restore a iso only dmg's is what i have concluded from tests... This works in Tiger though, Leopard and SL have problems doing ^ that...
ksporry
@Mushishi: I assume "distro" represents a tailored version (i.e. what I downloaded, or iDeneb, or something like that)? Well, i would have used a retail disk, but my iMac doesn't come with a retail disk, only the grey recovery disks, which only work on the iMac model that I bought. So I'm trying to get a worked version. @all: Ok, so I should convert the iso to dmg and then try to restore it?
ksporry
OK, so I managed to install the image on the USB now. I do have further questions though: Can I immediately try to install the iATKOS image, or should I follow the instructions on maceee.blogspot.com? He uses a retail disk image though, so the effect may be very different...
ksporry
Right, I managed to install OSX successfully, but I am stuck with booting. I used one of many versions of iATKOS S3 v2 and installed a couple of bootloaders during installation, but seems like this did not work for me. I tried running Netbookinstaller 0.8.4 RC1, but this gets stuck at "regenerating DSDT.aml" SO, has anyone another way of making this bootable?
