ssaslam
NOTE 1. I am making this guide for people who are win users and are trying to install mac for the first time. If you already are sucessfull in installing your mac and just need the kexts for audio touch pad etc. follow the guide from step 9 NOTE 2 Only thing i modified is the network card. I bought a "D-LINK DWA-125 v2" usb adapter from amazon for $22.49, and I must say it a good deal for a wireless N adapter. It is even better then Intel 5100 which is built in this laptop. Here is the complete guide to install SNOW LEOPARD on to your gateway p-7805u I have provided all the drivers (kexts) that you need to get Snow Leopard function properly. 100% Guaranteed to work on Gateway p-7805u I have tested this on 10.6.3 and 10.6.4 working fine for the past 2 weeks. If you are looking to buy one make sure its the DWA-125 v2 because anything else doesn't work with os x. 1. First you need to go into the boot menu (F2) and change the following This step is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT otherwise you wont be able to boot into snow leopard Boot > Advanced >Legacy USB support: Disabled Boot > Advanced >SATA Mode > ACHI Then save these settings and reboot. I used the ##### + ##### methord to install this onto my p-7805u 2. Now the software that you need a. ##### disk from tony mac forum ##### b. A Mac OS X Snow Leopard Retail DVD only $29.99 mine is ( version 10.6.3 ) c. Download ##### from tonymac 3. You will need to burn the ##### onto a disk and reboot from it. Once on the chameleon boot screen eject the ##### and insert the SNOW LEOPARD RETAIL DVD and press -v. This allows you to see the errors if any, but you shouldn't have any. This process should take about 4-8 mins since setup loads all the necessary files. 4. Once the setup has loaded choose the language you prefer and continue. a.Click next again and you should welcome screen , b.Click next again and you should see the option to choose the disk you want to install OSX on. 5. Now you will have to format your drive for the OSX. a. Look at the top and you should see "utilities", click on it and choose "disk utility". b. Now at this time select the volume and click on "partition" c. Click on volume scheme and select "1 partition" i named my drive "SNOWLEOPARD" d. again i will emphasize this step " click on OPTIONS and choose "GUID", click ok and then apply This should take about 20 seconds to 1 min depending on the volume of your drive. 6. Now exit out of disk utility and you should be able to select the disk that you want to install your snow leopard on. Click next and then click "customize". 7. In customize i unchecked the additional fonts and language cuz i dont need them. Finally continue with the install. The installation should take about 30 mins. give or take. After installation is complete you should see a green check or a yellow fail don't worry either way you are fine. I have installed OSX 7 times on my gateway and 2 times i got a yellow but it didn't effect me from booting. 8. Right now you wont be able to boot without using the ##### disk Now insert the ##### disk and it will boot you to the chameleon screen you should be able to see the volume that you named in my case "SNOWLEOPARD" select it and click -v. Should take about 1min-2mins Now you should be prompted to choose language country add login credentials. etc. Remember to create a password it is important when using certain softwares. After entering info you should be in snow leopard. So this is the beginning. To have your OS X fully functional you need the 9. ##### 1. Extract the zip if not already done so. The icon will be a red apple looking up. 2. Open MultiBoot and read the EULA and press accept until you're at the screen where you make decisions. a. Click the Down Arrow button on EasyBoot. Select ##### FOR SUPPORTED CPU 3. Open System Utilities a. Select both options. b. Rebulid Caches c. Repair Permissions 4. Select the down arrow on Advanced Options, and this is where different models may differ. I will cover P7805u. a. Advanced Options > Kexts > Graphics > NVEnabler (enables nvidia 9800m GTS) b. Advanced Options > Kexts > Miscellaneous > Fakesmc + Voodoo PS/2 Controller Will enable your trackpad c. Advanced Options > smbios.plist > iMac11,1 > Core 2 Duo (this will make it so you no longer need cpus=1 and get 2 cores ) d. Advanced Options > OSx86 Software > Kext helper b7 Reboot your PC this time remove the ##### disk and you will be able to boot into mac os x with out any problems. 10. Okey so the only three things are left are in mac kext = drivers a.sound b.kexts or drivers for the adapter to get internet c. battery gauge, since its not currently working. Here is the link for the drivers (kexts) that i have gathered for my pc. Download from rapid share or media fire your choice http://rapidshare.com/files/429517978/P7805u.zip http://www.mediafire.com/?ppss8pp2ukvbq0u "Kext helper b7" will come handy when you will install these (kexts) You will have to open finder and search it, and copy it to the desktop 11. Wifi a.Download the folder from the link above and double click to unzip it. b.Navigate to Wifi fix folder double click on DWA-125A2v2.3.8Mac.zip and it will unzip c.Now run the ALPHA_USB_DWA125 D-2.0.6.0 UI-2.3.8.0_2010_04_20 and it should mount on the desktop as D-Link_DWA-125. Open it d. Choose D-Link_DWA125_OS-10.6 since we are running 10.6.3 e. After installation reboot f. Once back click on "system preferences" at the very bottom you should see DWA-125 click on it and hit ok. Now you will be presented with Available wireless networks. e. Select your SSID and click on "add to profile" enter the password and that it. Your wifi is ready to go and is fully functional. 12. Sound a.Download the folder from the link above and double click to unzip it. b. Now navigate to "Audio Folder" and install AzaliaAudio.pkg. c. Now reboot the pc. d. Once back use your audio will still not be functional e.now the Run the Kext helper b7. and pick and drop "AppleAzaliaAudio.kext" in Kext helper b7. enter the credentials and and click easy install. f. Reboot the pc and nextime you boot your audio should be functional. 13. Battery gauge fix a. Navigate to Battery Fix folder b. choose voodooBattery.kext.zip, unzip it c. Open Kext helper b7, pick and drop and choose easy install remember to enter password. Thats it, only thing that doesnt work is the sleep, im working on it if i come across it i will post it soon. Also remeber to go to system preferences and turn off all sleep option if your computer goes to sleep you will loose ur unsaved work. so its best to have it off. ALSO if u close your lid the pc will go to sleep. Also if your pc goes into sleep, you might not be able to boot back. You might hang at the chameleon screen . Simple fix is insert ##### and then you can boot into os x, eject the disk and reboot, now the problem is fixed. BUT JUST KEEP COMPUTER SLEEP TO OFF AND NEVER CLOSE THE LID I will be posting a video on youtube probably after 2 weeks and show how to instal os x and i will show u how to multiboot in win 7 and os x. Any questions ? I will gladly answer them

adamj
You might want to include the other models near the top of your post. I have a Gateway P-7811 and it's virtually identical (same mobo/graphics) just different hard drives and networking cards I believe.
Vincent L
Okay, So I dont know if this combination messed up or what, but I followed your guide and Lifehackers, and updated with the file they had. Seems now that I no longer have a keyboard, meaning I cannot install anything for the password is needed. Help much appreciated. Thank you in advance. methvenc
I understand this is an old thread but I figureed i'd try my luck just the same. I have a similiar model Gateway 7803h which also has the 9800 GTS 1 GB gfx. I am having issues with screen flickering and freezing on boot up when trying this method using Mulotibeast 3.3 (latest) and Mac OS X 10.6.5-10.6.6. Can anyone confirm if this works fine on their system? If it works maybe I have a hardware issue with my gfx chip cause i am at a loss here...
