quake
Hi folks. I now have my system running fairly smooth with no hiccups, yet. After doing alot of reading, the main purpose of the DSDT or best definition I could find was, "DSDT tells OS how to interract with the hardware". My question is, How do you know if you really need to patch your DSDT, even if your system is running smooth, will it help? I'm sure there are lots of answers to this, but all are welcome. Time2Retire
Hi folks. I now have my system running fairly smooth with no hiccups, yet. After doing alot of reading, the main purpose of the DSDT or best definition I could find was, Some people think that their hack runs fine... until someone else looks at it and says: Hey. This isn't right. The question is: Does it really matter? I mean if people don't experience any hiccups – like you– why bother? Why risk introducing (new) problems? If you're cool with it... it's fine by me. "DSDT tells OS how to interract with the hardware". Not quite right. More of a task for SMBIOS / DMI. My question is, How do you know if you really need to patch your DSDT, even if your system is running smooth, will it help? I'm sure there are lots of answers to this, but all are welcome. Yeah. Some failures go by unnoticed. The good news is that there's always people here spotting these errors. One other thing. Reducing the size of your DSDT makes it a lot more fun to read, and your hack will boot slightly faster, but it is a lot of work. To me it's more like playing chess. Some like chess... others hate it. Please note that playing chess is done with two people only, but that hacking your DSDT might require help from a lot more people. I'd say go for it
quake
I do have a few stalls in my boot where it seems to stick for a few seconds and have some app crashes. DOn't know if they are due to bad kexts or not. I don't have the capability to start to cipher my DSDT yet to tell on my own whether it needs some modding or not. Just didn't know if it could be improved on or not.
00diabolic
You know what would be great. An app that analyzes your DSDT and compares it to the closest mac model to your hack available then spits out all potential problems with your dsdt. Weather those should be fixed or not can be decided by the user. Be great to then have a forum where people post those problems to compare with others. Eventually all DSDT errors would be diagnosed properly. ahhh what a dream app this would be.
quake
It would be nice to have such an app but am guessing it would require a buttload of work. I know mine is probably far from as good as it can be, but will make do for now.
