Many thanks to all who take the time to help me acquire this wonderful OS, a big thank you to all and wish you happy holidays and a good appetite! Regards, Jeremy. Even though I am a beginner, I too was interested in installing within VMWare or Virtual Box. I have 2 PCs. On 1 of them the CPU [lIntel Mobile Core 2 Duo T5460] does not support HW Virtualization on the other the CPU[Althlon 64x2 5600+] does support HW virtualization BUT the BIOS does not provide a way to enable it. I looked up the Core Duo 2 on an Intel site and the Athlon 64x2 on an AMD site. Sorry I didn't record those URLs. Google is my friend! AS I have read, I cannot install an OSX OS within a virtual environment. Stubbornly, I have tried a number of distros with both VMware and Virtual Box. All fail very early. I would very much like to be wrong and find out I can go virtual w/o support of HW. I haven't found any tutorial etc. to do that yet. It may be possible to hack my BIOS on the one PC whose CPU does support HW vitualization. That is NON TRIVIAL! Even though there are forums with helpful folks focusing on BIOS hacks, it seems out of my league.

Glad it worked for you. You must have hardware vituality support. I have given up on using a virtual volume.

I tried to install a distro by Hazard on an XP notebook. I have one that does not have HW vituality support. I completed formatting my non-windows partition as OS X OK. Only a single drive in the PC. My install blew up with the error that my install DVD was corrupted. When I rebooted to use XP again, I found that my attempted install had clobbered by XP partition. Of course no backup! No unformatting or similar restoration technique was effective. It wasn't a critical PC. All of my real files are on my other PC. So I attempted to re-install XP from the manufacturer's genuine XP CD. That failed with an error that the CD had a corrupted file. I suspected a problem DVD burner. Tried again same result. So this was a good time to install WIN 7 on the box. That was easy. Lots of work installing applications, configuring Firefox with add-ons and such. I am afraid to try the install again on that box. I think I didn't format the windows partition during the install. I was super careful. Somehow I clobbered the win partition. My next attempt may be to try to install on an external drive. I need to research if that can be done with my setup first. I'll see! Again glad YOU were successful. I can always fall back to building a gigabyte motherboard based new PC. But I don't need one and my wife will be unhappy with me.
