Rammjet
Using System Profiler. Go to the Apple menu -> About this Mac... Click on the More Info... button In System Profiler, on the left, click on Graphics/Displays. On the right, read the Device ID. If the Device ID says 0x1234, you just need the "1234" part. Rammjet
I would believe the device id. According to Google: 1002:4a49: R420 JI [Radeon X800PRO] 1002:554f: R430 [Radeon X800 (PCIE)] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23509-device-id/#findComment-156046 Share on other sites
First Group
AGP and PCI make any difference to Mac OS X Tiger? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23509-device-id/#findComment-156047 Share on other sites
Rammjet
AGP has had more difficulties - so a special driver has been added for AGP: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...&hl=agpgart And for ATI cards, you need to investigate Callisto: http://omni.starchaser.org/callisto/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23509-device-id/#findComment-156050 Share on other sites
First Group
Oh bugger I installed both those kext's and now ive got the same problem as i posted in another thread. Everytime it boots up and gets to the grey apple logo it then switchs dark and asks to reboots and continues this each time. i would realy appricate it if you could tell me a command for getting past this screen. i have tryed -x safe mode and it loads a few items then it loads my disk and wants to install Mac OS X all over again. Is there a recovery within the installation i could use so i didnt have to waste yet another hour? Also im starting to give up with the AGP card and am thinking of sticking in my PCI Nvidia 5200 256Mb card? better idea? Rammjet
Try booting with the -v option and see what, if any, errors are displayed. The Nvidia card is going to need the Macvidia drivers: macvidia.starchaser.org Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23509-device-id/#findComment-156351 Share on other sites
