JuzzMann
hello everyone, I am trying to install 10.4.5 on my pc using the universal amd/intel dvd. After I finish the install, i reboot, and then bam, kernel panic.... there is one odd thing that happened while i was installing, i've read that when i click customize in the installation i should be able to slect exactly which of the patches i want to install, and not just the general amd/intel patches(all in one) that i installed, can someone confirm this?? attached is a picture of the kernel panic in -v my specs are intel p4 2.66GHz (SSE2) abit ic7 wd 120GB sony dru-810 dvd burner ATI 9600XT I already took a look on the wiki to see that my computer is supposed to be compatible with OSX so is it something i did wrong, or is something wrong with the iso file I am a complete noob, any guidance/help would be greatly appreciated Please help me!!! Thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23211-kernel-panic/ Share on other sites
Rammjet
You can't install AMD patches on Intel. You have to choose packages that are correct for your computer when you "Customize". JuzzMann
but it doesn't give me another choice, all it says is amd and intel patches and i checked that one, could it be that the iso file is corrupt or something? Rammjet
Is there a little arrow to the left of it? Click the arrow to expand that selection so you can pick what you need. If you have trouble choosing, when you go into Customize, expand the package list by clicking on the little arrows on the left (especially the last one) and then take a picture and we'll help you choose what to install. Rammjet
You have an Intel machine, right? * Intel BaseSystem * If your computer is SSE3, select that, otherwise select SSE2 * Update to 10.4.5 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23211-kernel-panic/#findComment-154289 Share on other sites
JuzzMann
hello and thanks again for your reply, yes i do have an intel processor, it is an SSE2, but are you sure that i need to install the update to 10.4.5 even though i'm doing a clean install of osx(i never had a previous version on this computer) thanks again, JuzzMann Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/23211-kernel-panic/#findComment-154315 Share on other sites
Rammjet
Yes. Apparently your installer is based on 10.4.4 and in order to get to 10.4.5, you must include the updater.
