iMad4Mac
Hi guys this is my first guide here... Anyhow, let's get to business! My basic hardware specs are: ECS X58b-a2 mobo Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.66 GHz nVidia GeForce 9800GT 512MB. THIS WAS TESTED ON A X58 BOARD [this method can be used for other boards with a few tweaks!!] UpDATE: NO BOOT FLAGS NEEDED! Download iATKOS S3 V2 .iso file and burn it to a blank DVD (I'm sure you all know how to burn) Then boot into the DVD with "cpus=1 busratio=20" [without the ""s] (you don't need boot flags for non-X58s) (many tell you to change your BIOS settings, but there's really no difference) Then select your language. Click the arrow Go to Utilities tab at the top menu. Click on Disk Utilities. [iMPORTANT: YOU DO NOT. NOT. NOT NEED GUID PARTITION TABLE!! YOU ARE FINE WITH MBR] Then click on your desired partition/hdd. Go to Erase tab. Select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and name it whatever you want (ONLY alphabets and NO spaces!) Click erase. Then exit. Click next until you arrive at the disk selection page. Select your drive you erased a minute ago (I named it Hackintosh) BEFORE YOU CLICK INSTALL CLICK ON CUSTOMIZE!!!! For X58: Chameleon v2 RC4 Graphics enabler /Extra Directory fakesmc Disabler RTC EVO Reboot AHCI SATA Intel SATA/IDE Jmicron SATA/IDE Voodoo HDA Apple HDA Evo speedstep For other boards: same as above, but UNcheck the following: Intel SATA/IDE Jmicron SATA/IDE Evo speedstep Then click install. Wait. Reboot. Then boot into the Hackintosh HDD with "cpus=1 busratio=20" [without the ""s] (you don't need boot flags for non-X58s) ENJOY!! Alessandro17
is this a guide for a 2 month old distro??? It doesn't matter. iATKOS S3 V2 is still the most recent and possibly most used distro. iMad4Mac, I appreciate your effort, even if your guide could use some little improvements I have edited your post for size, you don't need such huge fonts. Spiler
Lovely post, and a wonderful guide... although the cpus=1 is obsolete on s3 v2 in my case. I run OSX 1.6.3 from iATKOS S3 with quite similar settings as iMad4Mac has specified as I'm running it with an ATI HD4870 with 1GB of RAM and it's blasting its way through many of the OSX features. I didn't do a triple boot, although I do have Win 7 x64 and an Ubuntu 10.04 x64 installed as well on the same rig.\ Thank you for the guide mate, may we all enjoy OSX on our PCs and hopefully Apple will realize that OSX is more than just an OS for their PCs, mostly because they are now just PCs (intel based CPUs, same graphics cards and audio freely available to the PC market...) and release the EFI bs so that we can all enjoy our beloved OS.
