BrickTamland
I am about to get everything ready for putting snow leopard on my PC ( http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=180954 ). My question to you is that do I need a SATA DVD drive, I haven't thought much about this and don't use it much. When I built my PC, everything was new except the drive. Do I need to buy a new drive? If so can I use a laptop SATA DVD drive I have lying around? I know the 2.5" enclosure will leave a big whole in my machine. Do I just need it to install snow leopard? (Can I use the IDE drive?) Any advice you can share on this subject would really help.
J.B
SATA drives are better supported by OSX, usually OOB, whereas IDE aren't and you will probably need some kexts to get them recognised. you could probably use the laptop SATA drive you have lying around to get the job done
