Reformatting HFS+ partition from Vista installer

I have a hard-drive (MBR) that i've previously used for an OS X installation. Its only partition is in HFS+ format.

The Windows Vista installer shows this space and gives you the option to reformat it to NTFS. Will doing this cause any problems? I head a crazy story about partitions becoming corrupted if reformatted this way but I can't remember for sure.

Any information would be a big help.
