Running Kalyway 10.5.2

With...

nForce 680i SLI mobo (only one graphics card)

Core 2 Duo 2.66ghz (no OC)

Nvidia 7900 gs

2 HD's one with an xp install one with OSX

4gigs of ram

Kalyway 10.5.2 runs fairly well for most things but many processes (pretty much anything that takes a while is likely to cause crashing).

examples:

-dowloading large files

-importing to imovie

-copying large files from external HD's or Flash Drives

and others...

The system runs with apparently perfect stability if I boot w. cpus=1 maxmen=2048

Anyone have a clue what fix(s) would allow me to run the system with both cpu's and all of my ram?

The above link seems to have fixed the issue I installed all three of the kexts except for the ATI focused one since I didn't have that kext originally.

Well spoke a bit to soon, the kexts did fix some of the problem the system no longer grey screen crashes. Though it still freezes up occasionally (when backing up with TimeMachine for example). If I use cpus=1 everything becomes perfectly staple again.

I would like to try the cpus=1 fix above but I don't quite know how as the instructions are in Spanish.

What, where? Did you mean to ask how to set that permanently?

In the finder, click 'Go', go to folder, and paste this: /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/

Copy the com.apple.Boot.plist from that folder to your desktop, open it in a text editor, add cpus=1 to the kernel flags string, save the file, drag it back into /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ type your password and reboot.

Haha I meant the fix mald0n posted above yours which he said was a cpus=1 fix (but the link is in Portuguese).

Your fix seems to have worked but it doesn't appear that it fixed whatever issue OS X is having with my cpu. Though it does not seem to be crashing due to the ram being filled anymore.

So no I've gone from needing both cpus=1 and maxmem=2048 to only needing cpus=1. Though I would love to get the system running with stability at maximum potential.
