Gaphical / HD activity causing audio hiss/interference

Just installed Snow Leopard using #####+#####. Have upgraded to 10.6.4 and have installed the Envy24HT drivers for my Audiophile 192 sound card. Everything works, as it in boots and can play sound etc. However I'm getting constant interference when ever the machine is busy doing stuff. Scrolling/moving windows, rolling mouse of dock with magnification, caning hard drive off etc, all causes hiss and interference through the speakers. Any ideas?

The same hardware didn't produce this interference when running Fedora 10. Guessing its a drivers issue. I've seen a similar effect years ago on a windows machine with unscrupulous graphics card drivers hosing the bus to achieve higher speeds at the expense of other stuff on the bus. Could it be the Envy24Ht drivers, the nvidia drivers or something else? Any boot args I could try to disable some acceleration, see if that helps?

I'm running Intel Core 2 Duo e7200, Asus P5K-VM mobo, 2GB ram, Nvidia 9400GT, M-Audio Audiophile 192. SATA HD and DVD-DW.

I've disabled onboard video, audio, ide, parallel and serial gubbins.

No one got a clue? Problem is not noticeable when using the digital out (coax spdif). Also the interference remains the same volume, regardless of how loud I crank the volume on my amp, which would kind of imply its more general interference, rather than in the signal itself...

Amp is an Exposure XXV.
