naf456
hello there. i'm wondering how to upgrade my AMD "HackMac" to 10.6.4. i've read some post that you can just download it and install it- but i've done so before and it ended up as a kernel panic at boot. don't i have to patch or do something to it like the updates on Grey leopard? You need to patch your CPUID's and backup your kernel, on reboot of the update on the chameleon screen, type in the name of the backed up kernel, for example mach_kernel.backup. When the system reboots, install the legacy 10.6.4 kernel. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=221599 You'll also need to download the cpuid for 10.6.4, he provides a link in that post, and also a link to maxxers CPUID Patching utility, rightclick the 10.6.4 update.txt and save as, drag that into the maxxer cpuid patching utility icon and it will run it Good Luck
