Wireless and sound issues

Sorry about the crosspost--I had originally posted this in Post-install. The BB will not let me delete the post.

I searched searched searched, and no joy. I think I'm SOL but I will ask anyway.

I have 10.4.7 running on my Tecra with a 1.66 Core duo. It runs beautifully (faster than my MDD 2x1ghz G4), but there are a couple of issues.

1. No wireless! Intel pro/wireless 3945ABG

2. No sound. Realtek high definition audio

Any ideas? am I SOL?

If those issues could be resolved, I would be totally golden. Without those items working, this is all just academic

There is no way you could've "searched searched searched" and not found a single post on either issue. Firstly, Intel wireless does not work yet. There are no drivers, there is no fix. Either buy a PCMCIA wireless card or replace the intel wireless with something like a broadcom minipci. With the realtek, find your device ID from windows for it and put it in the appropriate kext. Realtek's work with OS X, so do a little be more real searching and you should have sound working.

I've spent quite a bit of time trying to get it to work since posting that, and have not had much luck. I deleted AppleHDA.kext, and did the edits to AppleAzaliaAudio.kext

the first time I did this, an output device did show up in the sound prefpane, along with a volume slider, but sound still did not work. I then tried to play with the PrimaryMatch key, and that resulted in the system refusing to load the kext.

Here is the info from XP on the sound controller

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0861&SUBSYS_11790000&REV_1003\4&C3E5A58&0&0001

Just guessing I changed the PrimaryMatch key to 0x27d86186... nothing...

I am running 10.4.7

any ideas?

Edit--As for the network, PC Card support does not seem to be working on my notebook... I guess I will go for the Mini PCIe card, but that will probably void the warranty, and this thing is new..

Oh well, at least my other Macs work. none of them are portable, unfortunately.

As far as I can tell I have the 861.

That's what I did allright.. Originally I just replaced the IDs, this time I added them to the existing IDs, exactly as in the linked post.

Unfortunately, I am not getting anywhere with it--the device shows up in the sound prefpane, but the volume slider does not move, and there is no sound.

That's it! It won't work.

Something to do with the nodes that aren't correctly set up by HDA Patcher. Or Azalia.
