dransiksucks
Okay, so I made a vanilla installation of Snow Leopard 10.6 and updated to 10.6.4 I used the ##### Supported and Retail Disc method, then used ##### ##### to get it to boot without the cd after installation, all is well, programs run amazing, sound, internet, awesome.. then I decided to plug my ipod touch in a usb port and it didnt pick up, no charging not being recognized by the system.. I tried on my windows 7 partition and it works. Anyways I figured maybe its just my usb ports that screw up while in snow leopard, so I tried an external hard drive, picked it up fast and works... i tried usb thumb drives all work amazing... just the ipod touch wont get battery charge and doesnt get detected even in disk utility.. Now i dont know if 10.6.4 is the reason that its screwed, because I didnt not try ipod touch when it had only 10.6.0 The funny thing is that I tried the ipod touch on my HP HDX 16 hackintosh (using Snow Leo PC hack distro method) and the ipod works there... so strange. I then tried on my other computer that is a vanilla install (##### supported and #####) and that one does not work with ipod touch... Now my conclusion is that ipod touch just does not work on vanilla installations? Or am i wrong? Any ideas? Thanks I Dont think my hardware is relevant to list here, since I tried on 2 different computers with different boards and such and both had same problem (both running retail installs) while the HP laptop running the snow leo PC distro works.. **** EDIT!!! SOLVED!!! Solution: I found it strange that it worked on the hacked distrobutions but not on my vanilla distro... so I decided to check my ##### program, and saw that there was a fix called IOUSBFamily.kext so i clicked it to install, restarted... still nothing... then I realized it was installed in EXTRA/Extensions folder... so I used Kext Helper and installed the IOUSBFamily.kext that way and then used Kext Utility to repair, restarted the computer... OMG ORGASM TO HEAR THE SOUND OF MY IPOD TOUCH CHARGE!!! AND ITUNES SEES IT NOW YAY!!! HAHAHAHAH, sry for the caps im just uber excited. It was strange that my ipod shuffle was working and my old ipod worked before I did this.. but I realized it might be because they do not require much power... then I read that Ipod Touch needs a usb 2.0 to work, and all my USB ports are 2.0... so was strange, but then forgot that cuz its a vanilla installation, that there might have been a driver (kext) that would need installing and voila it works! (the Snow Leo PC and Snow Leopard Hazard distros both have IOUSBFamily.kext automatically installed is why they worked)
