xdanisx
I tried installing 10.6 from a USB flash drive on my 80GB HDD. I rebooted with with SATA as IDE : face pound: I booted chameleon, selected my language in SL, went to select my install location and no HDDs came up. So I booted back up with SATA as AHCI. This time, I couldn't boot from my flash drive for a SL install. I tried RAID instead of AHCI (two of my three HDDs are in RAID0) same thing. Then, I went back to IDE for SATA, SAME THING! THE ERROR MESSAGE I GET IS: EBIOS READ ERROR:ERROR 0X01 BLACK 0X37C7700 SECTORS 0 I get that error four times (I guess it keep trying to boot from the flash drive) and I finally get into the Snow Leopard language select. It still reboots though... I've tried rearranging my SATA cables to different ports, no luck. I unplugged my third HDD (the one were I wanted SL to go), made a 20GB partition on my 2 HDDs in RAID0 (I was planning on installing SL to that partition), set SATA to RAID, and... I got to the Snow Leopard language selection screen! Sweet! I selected English, it started loading, and... my PC rebooted. I tried a few more times, same thing... it just restarts. Any Ideas? Anything I should change in my BIOS? Thanks. i7 930 @ stock EVGA x58 SLI LE 3GB 1600MHz 9,9,9 Tri-channel RAM EVGA GTX 470 overclocked 2 x 250GB HDD in RAID0 + 80GB HDD for a potential SL install EDIT: I reinstalled SL on my flash drive so it doesn't restart now. Whenever I connect my 80GB HDD, I can't boot from my flash drive. It doesn't matter config I use, what port, whether or not my other HDDs are plugged in. Help? Danaan
u need to mod your BIOS or use a EFI BIOS. You could search @ here how to install SL on your mother board model. (:
xdanisx
I'm using chameleon. I can't boot my flash drive while my HDD is connected. I have looked on insanelymac for tutorials with my board, and they are not even remotely noob friendly.
xdanisx
I'm going to try another install with another image. Anyone know what's up?
Hangten
I'm going to try another install with another image. Anyone know what's up? RAID using the HARDWARE RAID Controller on X58 will never worked as far as I'm aware. I have an EVGA X58 SLI x3. AHCI should be set on your BIOS and you can set up a software RAID with another SL running. Its been explained on Insanelymac more than once how to set this up on X58. You can't just install Chameleon and expect it to work you need to have the boot in the right partician and EFI partician with the correct drive info to all RAID{software} disc's to work on SL. xdanisx
I don't think it's a fualt with chameleon, but rather a complication between my HDD and flash drive. Anyways, anyone know how to put ##### onto a flash drive? I don't have a disk drive.
