Crywolf87
Hey guys, first off let me apologize for being a newb with a question that I know you hear all day and all night. I am looking to convert my desktop to Snow Leopard but am unsure of the process. First, the computer itself is an Gateway Gm5626 with an Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor E2180. (Yes that is straight off the side of the tower :-p) The system right now (Vista) is all effed up. It locks up after approx 5 minutes, sometimes it won't start up properly or at all. Other times it works decent then goes to a permanent white screen. I have access to an actual Snow Leopard software disk, (the family back home just bought a mac desktop) so my real question is, how hard is it to upload that operating system to my desktop? Is it even possible with my Intel? I've been doing some hard lurking and a lot of searching on other sites but I need some more personal help before I attempt this project. Thank you, and good morning. Edit: Mods, I'm not sure if this is the correct posting place so if not please feel free to move my post. Start by finding out your full hardware details, i.e. what chipsets are used on your MOBO for Northbridge, Southbridge, Ethernet, Audio etc., and also the graphics card.........then look for install guides based around your system spec......most likely Intel chipsets for the Northbridge, Southbridge on the MOBO.......and ideally you need a full Mac OS X Retail DVD..........or, use a Snow leopard distro........
